Page 55 of Asking For It

“Twice is hardly a habit.” He stood and tugged me to my feet. “And I think you’re the best.”

“You’re lucky you’re cute, or I wouldn’t let you get away with the endless flattery.”

He tugged me toward the bedroom. “I’m lucky about a lot of things.Cutedoes make the list. I’m guessing it’s more comfortable in here.”

“It is. But I’m not sleeping in this.” I fumbled with the buttons on my blouse. Great, I was too tired to undress myself.

“Here.” Kingston kissed my knuckles, then gently pushed my hands aside. He removed my blouse and skirt, and draped them over the back of a nearby chair. “Bed. Now.” He pulled back the comforter to expose the sheets.

I lay down. “Yes, sir.”

I was half-aware of Kingston stripping off most of his clothes too. Shame I wasn’t more awake to enjoy the show.

He slipped into bed behind me, wrapped his arm around my waist, and pressed into my back. “Sweet dreams.”

When I opened my eyes again, it was because sunlight was streaming through the window and warming my face.

Kingston had an arm draped over me and was pressed against my back. A specific part of him pressed harder than anything else, into one ass cheek.

A woman could get used to waking up like this. How selfish was I for wishing there were one other person here with us? Then it would be perfect.

“Good morning, gorgeous.” Kingston’s breath was hot against my shoulder.

I snuggled back into him. “It really is. Good, I mean. And morning too. I’m gonna stop talking now. At least until after coffee.”

He laughed. “I have a better idea. Do you have any whipped cream? Chocolate sauce?”

“Downstairs. In the mood for sweet coffee?” I’d never seen him take more than cream and sugar before.

“Not quite. I want breakfast.”

“Do you want anything with the whipped cream and chocolate? Waffles? Pancakes?”

Kingston kissed my shoulder. “You.”

“Oh.” Heat flooded my cheeks.

He untangled himself from the sheets. “Don’t move.”

“But—”

Kingston stepped into view. He was only wearing boxers, andwowthat view. He held up a warning finger. “I’ll be right back. Promise.”

When I heard my apartment door open and close, I raised my eyebrows. He was actually going downstairs dressed like that. Insane. And loveable.

Was I actually thinking theLword about Kingston?

Yes. I couldn’t put it into that little three word sentence, but... I couldn’t deny anymore that thinking about him or Owen made a happy flutter in my chest.

Kingston returned quickly, proposed toppings in hand, and a bath towel draped over one arm. “Will you trust me?” he asked.

“I do.” Saying that felt so good.

He tugged me to my feet, grabbed his shirt from the back of the chair it was draped over, and folded it over my eyes.

My heart hammered against my ribs at the loss of one sense. I strained my ears for any sound. The texture of the carpet against my feet was a sharp contrast to the sunshine on my cheek and the cool air on my arms.

When Kingston trailed his fingers up my spine, I sucked in a sharp breath. “You can stop me any time.” His voice was low and seductive.
