Page 78 of Asking For It

“On it, Boss. Keep him on a leash for the rest of the weekend? I’m going to have my hands full with this.”

Kingston looked at us with a hungry grin. “Won’t be a problem.” He disconnected.

“The employee in question.” I repeated Owen’s phrasing, amused at the idea of anyone trying to discipline Kingston. “Would you really put him on a leash?” Could I get into that? Owen dominating Kingston? Without a doubt.

Owen shrugged. “Kingston’s right that this isn’t bad publicity. Some people will boycott the café. Others will come in specifically because of what he did. He’ll never work there again, regardless. The leash idea does have possibility.”

Kingston flopped onto his back, laying his head on my thigh. I loved everything about the casually intimate contact. “Given there’s no leash in the room, does anyone want strawberry crepes?”

“They’re not even in the same category, and it’s six in the evening.” Why was I arguing? Those sounded amazing.

“Lemon and blueberry, then.” Kingston rolled to look me in the eye, never breaking contact. “You’ve never had breakfast for dinner?”

“More times than I care to admit.” Then again, I hated admitting to anyone that I ate anything besides lettuce. It was odd for me to throw out a comment like that so casually, but I liked knowing that it was safe.

“Whatever you would like,” Owen said.

I also liked knowing he meant that. “Crepes sound wonderful.” In fact, all of this was wonderful. I meant what I told them about wanting time to rebuild trust, but my heart had already surrendered, and I was pretty confident they’d be gentle with it.

“When you smile like that, it looks whimsical. I love that look,” Kingston said.

Me too.

Owen sat, and pulled me upright too, so I was leaning against him. “Care to share what you’re thinking?” he said.

What was I thinking, besideshehe, sexy men like me.I forced my thoughts to assemble. “The night I metFredandBarney, I was a heartbeat away from a pity party, because my friends were drifting away from me, to be with their men, and I was going to be alone forever.”

Kingston opened his mouth.

I silenced him with a look, before he could deny or correct past me’s assumptions. “Turns out I never lost them. And now I have my two guys, too. Life is pretty freaking amazing.”

“It really is.” Owen brushed his lips over mine.

I glanced at Kingston. “You were saying?”

“Nothing you didn’t already. You do have us, eating out of your hand... off your stomach... licking everywhere...” He rattled his head. “And it’s fucking incredible.”

And it would only get better. I had no doubt.
