“Not all of it is sexy, and it needs a little updating since I wrote it when we were in high school.” Why was I telling Landon this? There was something about him that made me trust him. Made it easy to open up to him, like I had at my bachelorette party.

“Well, if you need help either updating or executing your list, I’m here,” Landon said. “I seem to have some newly free time on my hands.”

Was it weird to invite him into this? Sure, it was my list, and I could do what I wanted with it, but Nigel had helped me make it. In a way it wasourlist.

“That answers that. Forget I offered. No hard feelings.” Landon sounded like he meant it.

Nigel turned his head to look up at me. “Don’t turn him down on my account. Your list, your decision.”

How did he know why I was hesitating…?

Because Nigel almost always knew.

“Besides,” Nigel said. “There are things on there that will require more than two of us, as I just witnessed.”

“We can’t do too much more today. This will be an ongoing thing.” Why was I holding back? I wanted to tell Landonyes. I wanted to spend more time with Nigel. When I woke up tomorrow, would this all just seem like a bad dream? Would the impulse be gone? Would I be back to being boring, timid Megan?

“You don’t have to justify your decision to me,” Landon said.

No, but if I turned him down, I wouldn’t be able to justify my reasons to myself. “I’d like your help, yes. It’ll be fun. I can call you for the next one.”

Landon shifted enough to kiss me on the top of the head. “I look forward to it.”

I didn’t know how this day ended in such a different place than where I thought it would when I woke up this morning. Thewhat nextterrified me. Living a list would be fun, but I still had to do adult things—find a new place to live, separate my life from Easton’s, and figure out how to be bolder.

Where was I supposed to start?

Ididn’t expect to hear from Megan again, and I was fine with being her rebound guy. Memories of how she tasted, sounded… How she felt wrapped around me… Those were mine.

When a phone number I didn’t recognize popped up in my phone, I answered without hesitation; work came from everywhere, and I was only as picky as safety required. “This is Landon.”

“Hi. This is Megan. Quentin’s friend?” Even at long distance, her voice was smooth and teasing as it glided over me.

“I remember who you are.” Vividly. “What can I do you for?”

“Ah—” She laugh-sighed. “So, a bunch of us, Nigel, Quentin, Jeremy, etcetera, are going to clear my things out of my ex-fiancé’s house, and I was wondering…”

Wait, what? Should I be offended? “What number on your list ismoving out of my cheating ex’s place?”

“Oddly enough, that never made the list when I was sixteen. Though now that you mention it, I should probably add it, so I can cross Easton off forever.”

“So you’re really calling to ask if I’ll help you move? You liked my truck more than my dick?” I kept my tone light—easy to do considering I couldn’t stop thinking about the way she made my cock dance.

Her laugh was more genuine this time. “I’m not answering that question. I know how guys feel about their trucks and their… I feel like that question is a trap, like when a man asks a woman how she’s doing and she saysfine.”

This was such a random conversation, and I was here for it. “How are you today, Megan?”

“I’m fine.”

Fuck, that laugh. I clucked and shook my head. “Yes you are.”

“I needed an excuse to call you. I was hoping… Come hang out with us? You can stay at Carly’s with the women folk and keep us safe if you don’t want to help with the actual moving.”

“Thewomen folk? I have no idea what to make of this conversation.” My brain caught up with something she said early on. “Wait… Easton? Easton Cocker?” Like that, I was having flashbacks to my teenage years.
