“Stop.” Elliot’s bark echoed through the room.

I looked around to see that most of the office had joined and was watching us. Elliot and Phillip stood closest, ready to step in.

“Of course you brought your friends,” Easton grumbled.

It would be satisfying to punch him, but it’d also hurt my hand and I needed that for work. “They’re my co-workers. This isn’t a random bar. You came into my office, dickwad.”

“Police are on their way,” Ivan said.

“Iwillget her back. I’ll have what’s mine.” Easton stalked out the front door.

No. He wouldn’t. I let him go, despite the adrenaline coursing through my veins. Easton wasn’t worth getting arrested over, unless it would actually do Megan some good.

My job prospects for the week were shot. I should be trying to find a few more stripper gigs, and instead on Wednesday afternoon, I found myself calling Megan.

“Hey, you.” Her cheer instantly brought a smile to my face.

“Hey yourself. I was calling to make sure you’re doing okay. End of last week… It was rough on you.”

Megan’s sigh was loud. “I’m okay. Bored, I guess? That’s weird, isn’t it? I’m thinking about going back to work a few days early, because everyone else is working, too.”

“I’m not.”

“I’m sorry.”

I hadn’t said that for sympathy. “It’s okay, really. But you shouldn’t have to give up your vacation time just because your plans didn’t work out.”

“My plans didn’t work out.” Megan laughed. “I love the way you phrase that.”

Diplomacy wasn’t my strong suit, but sometimes I got it right. “We should do something, to make sure you’re not tempted to work. Something off that list of yours.”

Her pause wasn’t encouraging.

“Did I say something wrong?” I asked.

“No. Not at all. It’s just… You should know something before you make an offer like that.”

Now I was curious. “Know what?”

“Nigel and I are together, but not.”

It had been less than a week. The sparks between them were obvious, buttogether? “I don’t understand.”

“I’m still trying to wrap my head around it too. I’m not ready to make a commitment, even to a guy I’ve known for a long time, but I probably will at some point, the way he and I feel about each other… But before then, I don’t want to live life with any regrets, and…” She cut herself off with a nervous laugh. “Do you really want to hear all this? What is it about you that makes it so easy to open up my heart and let it spill out?”

“I’m just that kind of guy.” Except I wasn’t. Never had been with anyone before. “I don’t mind at all.” It was true. Listening to Megan was easy.

She sighed. “Anyway, I’m still going through my list, even the sex stuff, and there are things on there that need three people. If you’re interested, after knowing all that…”

More sex with this gorgeous woman, no strings attached, and the ability to walk away at the end of it all? “I’m interested. I’m totally in.”

“Yeah?”

“Sure.” I liked hearing the happiness in her replies. “Pick something. Right now. Don’t think too hard about it, just grab something off the list.”
