“The Zep?” I snorted in disbelief. Was I more amused by this tangent, or Landon’s exaggerated offense? “I’d give you a response, but I don’t know if I can come up with anything better than thatBugsjoke.”

“It wasn’t that good.”

My grin wouldn’t quit. “No, but I’m that humorless.”

“Am I interrupting?” Megan’s question cut through the laughter.

I looked up to find her standing in the doorway, shopping bags at her feet. She had hot pink tips on her hair that faded up into her natural color, and a slight frown.

The conversation probably seemed pretty odd from the outside, regardless of when she came in.

“Not interrupting a thing.” I couldn’t take my gaze off her. Still. “Love the hair.”

And there was her smile. Bright as the Vegas sun, but on a much prettier canvas. She twirled a piece of hair around her finger, and suddenly I wanted to tangle a fist in those same strands.

I could. We had that now. I crossed the room in a few short strides, gripped her hair tight enough to make her gasp, and crushed my mouth to hers. Her whimper was honey-sweet, and her body molded to mine without resistance.

How did I not do this for so long? How was I still fighting any part of it?

Breaking away from her made me groan, and I couldn’t loosen my grip on the back of her neck.

“Maybe I’m the one who’s interrupting,” Landon said.

You’re not. You belong here, too. Stay. The request died in the back of my throat. I didn’t want him to leave, but it felt selfish to ask him to stay.

When I walked in on Landon and Nigel recreating the scene in Jaws where the characters bond, I truly felt like I’d walked in on something. The jealousy that surged inside was unexpected and potent.

But that obnoxious voice sayingthey’re here for mewas tempered with something deeper. A desire to see their relationship grow. A warm glow that was happy the two of them could connect, and that I got to witness it happening.

Was that weird? To want them together but not? No.Togethermust be the wrong word, because Nigel and I…

It was late and the car ride was catching up with me. Best to not think about it too hard.

We grabbed some easy food, ate in the room, and all three of us ended up passing out in the same bed.

The next morning, we headed out to see the town and check more items off the list. The day was gorgeous, the company was fantastic, and whatever envious little demon possessed me the night before was gone.

The urge to see Nigel and Landon click more often was stronger though. If they liked each other as much as I liked them…

How much did I like Landon?

A lot more than I should. Was it wrong that I hated the idea of not taking him home with me at the end of this trip?

Probably. But believing that didn’t stop me from wondering how Landon fit into our lives long term.

We saved the activities at the STRAT for the end of the day, because if I was going to be spit out above the city of Las Vegas from God-knew-how-high, I wanted to see it while it was lit up and looking its prettiest.

Though I was here for the coaster, I needed to work my way up to it. There was a ride called The Insanity that spun us over the edge. Whirling rides had always been my favorite, next to coasters, and for some reason that looked the least terrifying.

I wasn’t sure I liked the idea of hanging out hundreds of feet up, nothing holding us in place but a steel pillar riveted to a concrete roof, but I was going to give it a try. We were strapped into the ride, with Nigel next to me and Landon one seat over, and the motors started.

The slow spin was okay, I could do this. The faster we went, the more centrifugal force flung us out, the connection points above our head keeping us from flying away. When we were going full speed, gravity tore at me, at my hair, and the wind whipped against my face.

I was pretty sure I was screaming, but I was also laughing. “This is amazing,” I shouted at one point.
