I workedstraight through the rest of the afternoon and evening, not stopping for dinner. My plan to stay busy until the moment I could be—and I meanbe—with Julian worked out just fine and when my phone buzzed at eleven-thirty, I knew it was him.

Where are you?

I smirked at my phone.Where do you think?

Get up here.

I could almost feel his dominance through the phone. I raced upstairs, took the quickest shower of my life, and stepped into Julian’s suite just as I had two nights before.

Totally in the buff.

Goddamn, he looked good sprawled out in the leather chair, the top buttons of his shirt undone, sleeves cuffed midway up his forearms.

He smirked at me. “Good enough to eat, hm?”

“Something like that,” I said and sauntered over to him.

I’d never had anyone look at me, devour me with their eyes like Julian did. He drank me in, relishing every inch of my flesh on display like a gift made specially for him.

And I was. At least according to vampire mate bond stuff.

He pulled me into his lap, long fingers stroking down my spine. “Have you eaten?” he rumbled against my ear.

“Food doesn’t interest me right now.”

He nodded. “Agreed.”

In a flash we were on the bed and as much as I wanted this, it didn’t feel right somehow.

Julian stared into my eyes as he hovered over me. “You want to fight a little, don’t you?”

I chewed on my cheek and Julian let out a long sigh. “What I have told you about biting the inside of your mouth?”

“Sorry. It’s a nervous habit. But to answer your question, yes. I would like to fight and throw you around before we get to it.”

A devilish spark ignited in his eyes as he snaked a hand around both my wrists and pinned them above my head. “And what if I say no? What if I say you don’t get to fight me and throw me around before I get to be inside that perfect body of yours just the way you’ve thought about so many times?”

My pulse jumped as Julian’s words set my core ablaze.

He palmed my side, smoothing his way down me like he might stroke a cat.

Fuck if he didn’t know exactly what to say and where to touch to drive me mad.

But I was tired of this one-sided bullshit. No more “don’t touch me” dom shit. In a single motion I pulled my wrists free of Julian’s grasp and rolled us over.

I straddled him, pinning his hips to the bed with my thighs.

“And what if I say I don’t give one flying fuck what you say. You’re giving me a fight whether you like it or not.”

I ripped open Julian’s shirt, and a bit of flesh as well as my nails dug into his chest. Julian let out a feral roar and my lady bits couldn’t be happier about it.

What was wrong with me?

The thought was fleeting, but Julian noticed. “Nothing, Eden. You’re absolutely perfect for me. And I don’t want to hear you think anything along those lines again.”

I nodded and glanced down at the mark I gave him. Two perfect little puncture wounds sat right over his heart.

His hands kneaded my hips as mine explored the wide expanse of his chest.
