“What are we hunting?” Eden asks, suddenly appearing to my left.

Sunny blurs in on my right. “Must be big to get this kind of response.”

I can almost hear Rafe’s muscles vibrating in anticipation. Behind me, Jonah’s wound tighter than a clock spring.

But Eden and Sunny jumping in is just as surprising as when I thought they’d noped the fuck out.

“The bigger they are…” Eden starts.

“The harder they fall.” Sunny finishes. “Titus would love this.”

Titus? The vampire who’d enslaved all the wolves here? “Titus doesn’t get anywhere near him,” I growl under my breath.

“He’s your mate, isn’t he?” Claudia says from behind and to the left of me. I didn’t even know she was there. I glance toward her voice, but I don’t see a thing.

“Cloaking spell. Comes in handy in times like these. Don’t worry. I’ve got plenty more where that came from.”

Rustling behind me has me spinning on my heel, and Rafe lets out a ferocious roar.

It’s just Julian, who glares at him, but not before giving Rory the order to have the compound swept. Rory taps his ear and relays the order to whoever’s on the other side, all the while scanning the courtyard for threats like a trained hunter.

Or a military guy.

“How did he find you here?” Jonah asks.

“The same way she knew I was here.” My blood goes icy at the sound of that voice that is both too close and very far away.

“Show yourself!” Julian rumbles into the air like a crash of thunder.

“With pleasure.” The whistling wind muffles the voice, keeps me from pinpointing the direction, but I have no doubt it’s Drago.

All of us are searching the courtyard like our heads are on a swivel, but even eight pairs of Supe eyes aren’t enough to see what’s coming.

“You said you needed space, Willa. I respected that. But this is too far. Too much space. This is hurting me and my ability to do what’s required of me.”

“Is Claud right?” Eden asks. “Are we in the middle of a lover’s quarrel?”

“No. He’s my mate in name only. I haven’t accepted the bond.”

“It matters not,” Julian says from the stairs. “Once he intrudes on my compound, his ass is mine.”

The wind kicks up again, and I catch sight of him.

“Oh, my god.” I barely get the words out.

Rafe follows my eye line to the top of the far building that encircles us.

There, standing on the roofline, is Drago in stark relief against the quarter moon.

“Fuck, get ready,” Rafe commands, and the order stiffens my spine, cements my resolve.

It’s exactly what I need to face this. To face him.

Drago leaps off the roof and lands right in front of us, smashing half a dozen cobblestones at his feet.

He’s…

He’s tired. Haggard, even.
