“Anne will be home soon,” Robert continued. “And during dinner, there’s something we’d like to say.”
“Oh?” Stephen’s lips twitched at the way Hannah perked up with interest. “What is it about?”
“You’ll hear it when it’s time,” Robert laughed, already making his way out the door. “But for now, you should just rest until it’s time for dinner.”
As he left, he shot Stephen a slightly warning look. Stephen nearly sighed.
“He says that as if resting isn’t the only thing I do,” Hannah murmured once he was gone.
“You deserve the rest after working so hard for your past employer.”
“And there you go again,” she said with an amused smile. “Speaking as if you know me.”
“Because I do,” Stephen responded with a grin.
“Believe me, Stephen,” Hannah said, her smile slipping just a little. “There’s so much about me you’ve yet to find out.”
