“I missed you,” she whispered.

“I missed you too. I know I’m not supposed to see you before the wedding, but I wanted to give you this.” He pulled away to take out some papers from his pocket which he extended to her. The first thing that caught her eye was the crown’s seal.

“What is this?” she asked in confusion. “Our wedding papers?”

Edward shook his head. “Read them through.”

She obliged him and by the time she was done, she started to shake. Ariadne thought she would collapse to the floor. Edward took her by the elbow with the question in his eyes. “It’s your wedding gift. Do you like it?”

“But how?” she asked, still in shock.

“I paid for the process to be expedited. I gave the jury the necessary evidence which proved that he had stolen your father’s patent. Congratulations, the patent of the knee brace now belongs to us. I know the deed says my name but I’ve set up the royalties under your account. You will be the sole receiver of the funds.”

Ariadne shook her head. “I don’t care about the money.” He had moved mountains and given her the gift she didn’t even know she wanted, but it was what she needed the most.

“I know the last few weeks have been difficult for you,” Edward said. “But I also saw how easily you adjusted to my world, Marchioness.”

Ariadne blushed at her future title. “You didn’t have to do this.”

“But I wanted to. I’ve already told you that you don’t need to change yourself for me or my world. Together we shall achieve many more things,” Edward said softly.

At that very moment, all of her fears washed away and she knew she had made the right decision by choosing him. Edward grinned at her. “Now let’s get married, shall we?”
