“Hey, Earth to Lily, get back here,” Rose is snapping her fingers in front of my face. The white table cloth has some splotches of the wine I previously spit out.

“I’m here,” I say. “Just deep in thought.”

“Just don’t dive too deep. It’s been quite a while since you’ve been with a man,” Rose says with an air of authority. “Aren’t you going a bit overboard on this?”

“I forgot how great it feels,” I say to her. “Besides, aren’t you always trying to get me involved with someone? Why have just a wing when you can have a whole chicken?”

“Just don’t bite off more than you can chew,” she replies. “With that starry-eyed look, you’re about knee deep already,” she says as she takes a drink of her wine. “Hey, here’s an idea, Why not go to therapy?”

“Oh, I’m having it alright. I’m having therapy, sex-therapy,” I snicker at my quip and Rose just rolls her eyes at me. “Look, I’m a big girl and no one knows better than me how long it’s been since I had a man in my life. But don’t worry. I won’t let it get close to my heart.”

“You know, if Violet was here she would chew your ass good for being so deliberately evil,” Rose chuckles about bringing Violet into the conversation. Being our oldest sister, she bought into a diehard Appalachian religion some years back. If I remember correctly, she attends a snake-handling church.

Eww! Snakes.

After talking over dinner with Rose, I feel much better about the situation. About everything. She drops me at my driveway and I go inside, readying myself for bed. As I roam about my house, I check the doors and windows ensuring they are locked.

I spy my glass of wine and knock it back, placing the glasses in the sink. Going to the bathroom, I wash my face and then go to bed.

Waking up in the morning, I lay there as the cobwebs get chased away by the daylight breaking through my curtains. As I stretch, I realize it was an eventful night during sleep hours as I had many dreams.

Some with James and some with David. I chuckle because I recall a dream about a white buffalo stuck in a swamp. Why?

That’s so weird.

But the dreams with the guys, definitely fun. Hot fun. I slip off the bed, tossing the comforter back and choosing what I’m going to wear today from the closet. I settle on a red blouse with a white skirt and red heels.

They’re going to like this combo.

I drive the short distance to work and head into the office. Glancing into James’s office, I see that the two of them are talking in hushed tones. I shrug my shoulders and walk to my seat behind my desk.

Then I catch a glimpse of Jeff, leering at me with his beady eyes. He begins licking his lips checking out my legs and moving upward to my chest, staring at my tits. Like he had some kind of x-ray vision and could see down to my skin. I shudder at the thought of him.

Always got to be a creeper creeping around.

David’s eyes grow wide with confusion as I confide in him a serious breach in our, what we thought was a great defense from hackers. “How could this be? We’ve purchased the best internet security that money could buy!”

“Shh, keep your voice down,” I tell him, looking over him into the expanse of an empty foyer. “We don’t need to allow word of this to spread around. Especially if it’s someone from the inside.”

“You think one of our employees is sabotaging us?” he asks me with a crazed look in his eye.

“Calm down, I’m not sure if it’s inside or out,” I tell him. “Just that it happened.”

“Last night?” he asks. I nod my head yes as I watch Lily walk by. She turns to look at me, but then looks away just as fast.

David stands and gets ready to leave my office after telling him what I had found. He turns back to face me with a worrisome look and says barely loud enough for me to hear, “We need to investigate this immediately. I think I’ll start by going through logs, looking for other instances.”

“Yeah, you do that, but keep a tight lid on it. We don’t want to scare the perp into hiding,” I tell him. David nods and leaves, walking past Lily’s desk. The two exchange pleasantries and smile at each other before he goes on his way.

Running a hand over my face and trying to breathe after talking with David, I settle into a train of thought about my discovery. David’s just as shocked as I am regarding the news and the complexity of the situation. The sensitivity of it.

One thing’s for certain, it’s a delicate matter.

Sighing, I think about what I found and it sickens me. Someone has breached our cyber security. While that’s shocking in and of itself, whoever did this managed to get information about some of the projects and contracts that we completed for the government.
