Page 33 of Two Bosses For Her

Getting up, I open my door and see that David and Lily are walking back toward her desk. I go back to my chair wondering how this drive ended up on her desk and then why she would just put it into her computer.

Is she trying to throw suspicion off of herself?

David is still out at her desk, trying to make her feel at ease regarding this scenario. It isn’t too much longer before I hear her laugh and it sounds like David has her relaxed enough to get back to work.

Whatever he’s doing out there, I know that he is still trying to charm Lily away from me and more toward himself.

And I’m not helping the situation with my suspicions and attitudes of late.

In my heart of hearts, I know deep down that Lily isn’t one bit responsible for any of this. And yet, something keeps gnawing at my gut, telling me to beware. Beware of what though?

And now there’s this business about how I feel. I haven’t told anyone and even let on that I’ve been developing feelings for the gorgeous woman. Searching the annals of my own history in the relationship department, I find that I’ve never had feelings of this sort for anyone.

I need to do something—and quickly. I’ve got to let her know that I have feelings for her and that I’m not going to back away from David. We’ve fought over many things over the years, and now we’re going to fight over a woman.

As I sit there listening to her typing away at her computer, a brilliant idea enters my mind. I look online at tennis bracelets and when I find the right one, I pay and ask for it to be delivered to her place that evening.

She’s gonna love it. What girl doesn’t love diamonds?

I sit back and smile to myself about her possible expressions upon receiving it. My favorite one is that she opens it in front of me, hops up on me planting kiss after kiss on my face and then tells me to drop kick David.

What an awesome scenario that would be. Me kicking his ass out of her place and then fucking her until the sun rises. Yes sir!

I need to order dinner to be delivered right around six. What to get? Who to call?

Chinese!

Fun food for a fun evening.

I call the local Chinese restaurant to place an order, but since I didn’t know what she likes, I order a small portion of each menu item. This way she can pick and choose what she wants to try. I have delivery set for six on the nose.

Once all is planned, I rub my hands together in excitement for what’s to come tonight.

Hopefully, we’ll both be coming all over the place.

I chuckle to myself as I clean up my office. I get home and clean up, changing my clothes into something more relaxed and comfortable.

I get to her house, just as the delivery man drops the present. “What’s this?” She looks up at me in wonder.

“Open it and see,” I tell her, stepping inside her place. The cooled air of the interior of her house is a nice reprieve from the August heat outside. “Well?”

Her hand goes to her mouth as she stares in awe at the diamond tennis bracelet. “James? You did this?”

“Of course I did!” I say and walk over to help her put it on.

“It’s beautiful!” she says as she reaches up to hug me, pecking me on the cheek. The Chinese arrives and I help set the food out as she gets some plates and some wine. “I heard some about you last time when we were out, so let me tell you a little about me.”

“Fire away,” I say, plating some food and shoving a bite into my mouth.

“I’m one of eight children,” she says as my jaw drops.

“What?” I say, nearly choking on my crab Rangoon.

She giggles and says “Yes, my dad was in the military and when he was on leave, let’s just say Mom and Dad were busy. Mom loved flowers so damned much that she named all of us girls after flowers, Violet, Daisy, Rose, Lily, Aster, and the youngest, Iris.”

“That’s intriguing and a fun fact!” I raise my fork in the air for more effect.

She laughs and adds, “Sometimes, I think that my two younger brothers would have the name of a flower if Mom could have thought of more masculine named flowers.”
