“Nyet. Nein. Shall I go on?”

“You can’t keep me here.” The shiver that worked its way down her spine had nothing to do with the temperature of the room.

Farris squeezed her wrists. “Can’t I?” The power in his one large hand was apparent. “Try to get away, Inkie. I’m sure we’d both enjoy that.”

The scenario he described made her heart race. Her mouth was dry. “Never mind. I’ll stay. But I need a glass of water.”

“Too bad. Rest time is over.”

“Is that what we were doing? Resting?”

His chuckle made the hair on her arms stand up. “I was. Don’t know about you.” Despite his words, he handed her a tumbler. She took a sip and gave it back.

India scrunched up her nose, trying to decide if he was serious or if he was merely toying with her. “You never once tried anything kinky with me when we were married. I think you’re bluffing.”

“I never bluff.” He reached toward the nightstand and picked up a tube of lotion. India used it on her hands at night. “This should work,” he said.

“You’re freaking me out.” She wet her lips with the tip of her tongue. “What are you going to do with that?”

“Don’t be so suspicious,” he said gently. For a man with only one free hand at his disposal, he was remarkably deft. After uncapping the container, he squirted a thin line of white down the center of her rib cage and all the way to her navel. “Relax, India. You’ll like this, I swear.”

India wasn’t sure what she’d thought he was going to do, but it wasn’t this. Somehow, he had retrieved his necktie earlier when she wasn’t looking. Now he quickly tied her wrists together and secured them to the headboard.

“Perfect,” he said. “Close your eyes if it will make you feel better.”
