Wynn walked into Felicity’s hotel room wearing nothing but a pair of sleep pants. His chest was bare.

She quickly retreated to the bed, her back propped against the headboard, the covers pulled modestly to her waist.

“Hey,” Wynn said.

“Hey, yourself.”

His eyes were heavy-lidded. “May I?” He indicated the opposite side of the king-size bed.

“Be my guest.” When he mimicked her position, she shifted so she could look at him. “Why can’t you sleep?”

Wynn’s stormy gaze shot fire at her. “Why do you think?”

She swallowed. “Me?”

His chuckle held no real amusement. “Yeah.” He folded his arms across his chest. “In the spirit of this new honesty thing, I have something to say.”

“Go for it,” she said, but she braced herself.

His jaw jutted. “When we were together in high school, things ended badly. That was a very dark time in my life. You hurt me, Fliss, and in some ways, I never entirely got over it. I already had trust issues because of my parents, and then you rejected me—the girl who claimed she loved me more than anything. It messed me up. I haven’t done well with relationships in my life, so I try to be honest with women and tell them sex is all I have to offer.”

Her chest hurt. Tears stung her eyes. “I see.”

“I hope you do. Because I can’t be that eighteen-year-old guy with his heart on his sleeve again. I won’t. Regardless of what we decide about you and Ayla, I want you, Fliss. All day, every day. All night, every night. Whenever you want me in return. I’ll worship your body and give you every ounce of pleasure I can.”

She had to force words from a tight throat. “Seems like a decent offer.”

“I’m serious,” he said. “I think you were kidding about the falling-in-love thing, but here’s the bottom line. I don’t do forever.”

His words stung. “What about Ayla?”

“That’s different. Completely.”

“Okay.”

“Okay, what?”

“I accept your terms,” she said. “I want to have sex with you. Until I leave.”

He frowned. “But you promised to reconsider.”

“And you promised to look for another nanny.”

“So we’re at a stalemate.” His voice was grumpy.

She scooted to the center of the bed. “Not when it comes to sex.”

His mouth dropped open briefly before his eyes flared with heat and he met her in the middle. “I can live with that.”

He dragged her closer, sliding his hands into her hair and kissing her wildly. There was no warm-up this time. His body was big and hungry, and his kiss brooked no opposition. Not that she offered any. Felicity wanted this. She wouldn’t kid herself.

She wrapped her arms around his neck and felt his hot, smooth skin beneath her fingertips. “I’m glad you couldn’t sleep,” she whispered. “Very glad.”

“Me, too.” He ran his hands from her hips up to her waist. “I like this silky thing, but let’s get rid of it.”

She lifted her arms and held her breath when he drew it off over her head. He stared at her bare body for long seconds.
