Ariana exchanged a curious glance with Lia. “I didn’t know about that. Did you?”
“No. Let’s go to the restaurant. My list of questions is growing out of control. Did she sell his things? Take them to the dump? What’s she going to do with all the extra space? He insisted on doing all the interior decorating, so I bet she’s eager to express herself.”
“Is she even planning to stay?” Ariana asked. “I wouldn’t want all the memories.”
“Shut your mouth. Our girl isn’t moving anywhere. If she wants to get rid of all traces of Boone, she’s doing the right thing — getting rid of his stuff. Or if she wants to be more extreme, she could tear down her house and build from the ground up.”
“I’m sure the neighbors would love that,” Charles said. “Two houses under construction.”
Ari sighed. “If Rita decided to rebuild, she’d be done before Damon and me at this rate. Our property is a double crime zone now. First the arson, now the bodies. Bad news comes in threes. What’s next?”
“Nothing,” Lia said. “The triple bad news is over for our street. Rita was abducted, then your house burned to the ground, and now the bodies. We’re due for some good luck. Let’s go to the bar and grill. I don’t know about you, but I could really use something to drink.”
“Whatever’s on special, I’ll have three.”
“I’ll drink to that.”
They hurried to Lia’s car.
Ariana couldn’t wait to finally hear Rita’s story.
