“Is it working?”

She shakes her head. “No, and it’s not necessary. You are enticing all on your own, Mr. Taylor.”

The desire in her voice is evident as we continue to sway. “So how long do you need to be here?”

“I mean, now that my speech is done, I guess I could leave at any moment.”

“Is that right?”

“I should probably stick around, though, at least for a little bit, so it’s not entirely noticeable that I left so soon.”

“True.”

“Although, I’m sure theremightbe a way to persuade me to leave...” She leans back slightly and stares up into my eyes just as the song ends.

“Well, you’re leaving with me tonight, so if you need an itinerary of the evening, I’d be more than willing to provide it to you. Though the list of things that need to be done is rather short.”

“How short?”

“Only one item on it.”

“Well, that doesn’t sound promising at all.”

Leaning down to her ear, I clarify my intentions. Though let’s be honest—I think we both know what’s going to happen here, and no clarification is needed. But I want her to know that I’m not playing around. “The list only has one item on it, Penelope, and that’syou.”

“Me?”

“Uh-huh. That’s the only thing I plan to do tonight—you, over and over again. And even though it’s short, sweet, and to the point, none of the things I intend to do to you tonight fall into any of those categories.” Her breath hitches. “No, what I have planned is long, dirty, and full of points I need to make to ensure you know where I stand.”

“And where is that?” she practically pants.

“That I want you. You and no one else. I want you under me, on top of me, and all over every surface of my apartment. I want you screaming my name, pulling on my hair, falling to your knees. But more importantly, I want you alone where I don’t have to worry about anyone seeing us—until the only two people who exist in the world tonight are you and me.”

“Hmm,” she hums, taking a step back. “That actually sounds like a pretty detailed list. I think you might need some help with that after all.”

Smirking, I pull my jacket tighter and hope to God my pants aren’t completely tented right now. “Yeah, I think I do. Meet me behind the hotel. I’ll call us a ride so we’re not seen leaving together in front of the building.”

“Okay. Let me say my goodbyes, and then I’ll see you there.”

“Don’t keep me waiting, Penelope.”

“Believe me. I need and want this just as much as you do.”

Penelope spins on her heels, making her way over to her friends, and then I’m off to do the same thing.

I spot Hayden by the bar, flirting with the girl serving drinks. “Hey, man. I’m gonna head home.”

“Already?” He sets his beer on the counter and pretends to pout. “The night’s just getting started. Vince already left and now you.”

“Vince left?”

“Yeah, he and Justice wanted to bone before they went home.” He sighs. “Sometimes I think being married has some perks, you know? Like regular sex with someone who wants to do it with you whenever you feel like it.”

I bob my head from side to side. “You have a point. But sorry, man. I have things to do tomorrow, and this week kicked my ass.”

“I get it. Have a good night, QB. See you on Monday.”

“Behave, Palomar.”
