"I guess, if you must."

"I won't be gone long," I promise.

"Okay, I will be here waiting."

After I finish dressing, I grab my keys, head straight for my car, and drive to a local delicatessen where they sell the best chocolates I have ever eaten. You know, the kind of chocolate that when it hits your tongue, you feel you’re in so much bliss you could climax?

I buy a box of their best chocolates and then speed to my next stop, which happens to be a jewelry store.

Upon entering the store, the clerk behind the counter asks how she may help me.

"I am looking for an engagement ring. I don't want just any ring either. I want something stunning."

"Come over here and look at this one. I think it may be perfect."

I look down inside the glass cabinet, and she pulls out a ring. She hit the nail right on the head.

"This is one carat with a round cut, and with clarity above average." She holds up the ring for me to observe.

I take the ring from her and inspect it. "I think this is perfect. You can nearly see through it; it is so clear and brilliant."

"Alright, I will get it wrapped up for you and get you ready to go."

After paying for the ring, I stop by the coffee shop to grab coffee for Aria and me. While waiting for the coffee, I open the box of chocolates and eat the centerpiece. I place the diamond ring inside where the chocolate had been, and close the lid.

As soon as our coffee is ready, I nearly sprint for my car and speed back to the apartment. I decide to take the stairs instead of the elevator to burn off some of my excitement about what is about to happen.

Tossing open Aria's door I call, " Babe? Where are you?"

"I am the bathroom washing my face! I will be right there."

Aria walks out into the living room, where I sit waiting for her on the couch. The box of chocolates sits on the coffee table in front of me. Aria takes a seat next to me.

"You had to dash out of here to go get candy?" Aria looks confused.

"Not just any candy, this the best chocolate in the world and I had to get you some to try. Go ahead open the box and try one."

"Eric, it is still morning, and the box is already open?" Aria gawks at me.

"Oh, sorry. I could not resist having one, so I dove in on the way home. Go ahead, try one. Have dessert before breakfast; it’s okay to break the rules."

Aria opens the box and looks down. Her eyes become as wide as golf balls as she notices the ring lying front and center.

She quickly looks up at me in shock and looks back at the ring.

I get down on one knee with the box in front of her and grab the ring. "Aria Hall, will you marry me?" I gaze into her eyes.

Her eyes fill with tears. "Yes! Yes! I will marry you."

Aria grabs me tight and hugs me. I can hear her crying tears of joy.

Knowing Aria will soon be my wife makes me feel like my world will forever be filled with happiness. Aria's eyes tell me she is thinking the same.

I place the ring on Aria's finger, and she sits back and admires it. "Eric, it is absolutely gorgeous. Talk about a surprise!”

"So, am I off the hook for the early morning errand and running out on you?" I grin.

"You sure are!" Aria smiles.

I lean in to kiss my future wife and gently caress her cheek. The two of us as separate beings will soon become one team, and I can’t wait for that day!

THE END
