“God above you are so lovely.” His words were harsh but rang with truth.

He laid back over her and nuzzled his face between her breastsbefore hecovered her tight, budded nipple in his hot, wet mouth. Louisa arched off the couch with a soft gasping cry. Her hand sunk into his hair as hot pleasure spiked through her body like a flash of lightning.

“I’ve waited so long to do this,” he murmured. “To have you here, right in my arms.”

Louisa dared to looked down and in the dim light, spotted the wet mark on her chest. Her nipples were tight, deep rosebuds, peaking through the wet cloth. Isaac hummed to himself then dipped his head once again to take her back into his mouth, while his other hand teased and caressed her twin peak.

Bombarded by the combined sensation Louisa found herself panting and squirming underneath him. Isaac switched to the other and began laving his tongue around the tight bud, tenderly biting thepeak.

Then, his hand slipped from her waist to the hem of her smockand slipped under it. His hot bare hand on her tender skin felt like a burning brand on her skin—but it was a sweet burn. Hispalm moved from the outside herthigh to the inner and there his fingers skittered over skin only she had touched before.

He lightly slid a fingertipoverher wet petals, causing her to biteher inner cheek to not scream out and alert the whole house about what was happening. The softlustysound thatdid leave her still made a mark on Isaac as he lifted his head to kiss her before sliding down to her breasts.

He caressed her slick folds, and her breath started to come out harshly asshe could feel herself grow even wetter. He sucked her clothed nipple back into his mouth while he eased his middle finger into her untried passage. Reflexively, she clenched down on the foreign intrusion but that only made her pleasure spike.

With his mouth on her breast and fingers inside her, her lungsfilled for a ragged cry, then his thumb found her pearl, and Louisa felt her chest constrict.

He hissed out a breath as his fingers sank deeper, taking him to the last knuckle—and he begun to pump. Her body moved with him, taking him as deep as he could get. Then, another finger joined the first and stroked over her silken wall, making the bliss that much more unbearable. Yet she never wanted it to end.

She held onto him as her lips lifted and sank with his movements. He leaned up and slanted his lips across hers while she began to feel an electrifying sensation—one she had not felt before. His kiss grew hot, as did the sensation inside her, and he thrust his fingers deep, curling them to pass over a particular spot.

Louisa stiffened and arched her mouth, uttering a wordless scream as she launched off a cliff and fell headfirst into her cataclysm. She clung to Isaac hard and sucked in harsh breaths of air. And from a mirroring set of pants in her ear, Isaac was not better.

When she managed to lift her head, Isaac’s gaze was still heated, but instead of blazing—it smoldered. He placed a long, sweet kiss on her lips before pulling his fingers from her body and righting her smock. He managed to lay with and wrap an arm around her waist.

Through the lingering blissful sensations, Louisa felt him—he was still aroused from before. Still, he did not seem to pay attention to himself. His hand stroked her belly, and his mouth dropped kisses on the arch of her shoulder.

“Isaac,” she said, “I never expected that. I mean, I have heard people talk about lovemaking and all, but not once had I expected it to be so…”

“Pleasurable,” he filled in for her, and Louisa nodded.

He kissed the corner of her lips. “It usually is that way. I have metpeople who get intimate just for the sport of it and for them it is a trifle; just a pastime to feel happiness, as fleeting as it can be. But I have spoken to others who make love with a person who means the world to them, and for them, it is heaven on earth.”

His gaze was deep and overflowing with an emotion she knew he did not dare to say. Louisa doubted that he even knew the volumes his eyes were speaking for him—and decided to make Isaac none the wiser.

“I can see that,” Louisa whispered, then folded her hand over his. “What I felt awhile ago was utterly sublime, but what about you, Isaac?I know you are unfulfilled—I can feel it.”

He chuckled warmly and hugged her close to his chest. “Don’t worry about me, sweet. I am more than fulfilled by holding you.”

Twisting her head enough that shecould see him and hold his gaze, Louisa swallowed. “I meant what I said, Isaac. I do not expect any confession from you. I’ll be all right with how you are and what you feel for me.”

He sighed, and his warm breath flitted over the back of her neck. “Thank you for being so understanding, Louisa.” She felt his grimace against the back of her shoulder.“That did not come outright. I—I—”

“You don’t have to explain now, Isaac,” Louisa said as she rubbed his arm and smiled at the sprinkle of hairs there on his arm. “You have all the right to protect yourself from another blow.”

“Darling,” he whispered in her ear. “I cannot see howyouwould hurt me.”

The implication is that he would hurt meinstead?

She knew that someone would get hurt and that it was most likely going to be her—it was inevitable. There was no possible way that a maid would have a future with a Duke. One day when the breaking point came, she would have to swallow the pain and move on. But for now, she would enjoy what she had with him.

They rested on the couch until Louisa felt Isaac’s breath start to even out and knew that he had slipped off to sleep. She slipped from his lax hold and donned her discarded dress. Before she left the room, she paused to look at Isaac.

He looked so peaceful in his sleep. The tight-knit of his brow was gone, and so were the lines at the side of his eyes and the strict set of his jaw. His hair, flopping over his forehead and curling over his nape, had her wanting to touch him, to finger the thick locks she loved to slide her hand through.

The more she looked at him, the more a pang of sympathy and sorrow birthed in her heart for him. He was way too young to have suffered all the agony he had gone through. If only there were a way to turn back the hands of time and find a way to help him escape the agony—but there was not.

Her hand hung over his face for a moment, but Louisa drew it back. She went to the door and, with one last look to him, slipped out the door and softly closed it behind her.A little thread of fear tightened her chest as she walked through the corridors. She knew it was not right for her to be out that late, and she was not sure what answer she could give if she did get caught.
