“But by the time we get there the storm is likely to have moved on,” I point out.

“Maybe. Maybe not. Why are you hellbent on getting to Atlanta tonight? Another day won’t make any difference. Gary told me you’re starting with us on Monday. So there’s no need to rush.”

He’s right, of course. Today is only Wednesday, so I have plenty of time to get settled in before I begin my new job.

“It makes a difference to me. I just need to be in the place I’m going to live.” I’m clutching at straws, and Aiden’s face shows he’s skeptical. “I’m excited about my new job, but I need to adjust to the big city I’m moving to. It will take some time to get my bearings.” It’s the truth… not all of it, but at least I’m not lying.

He gives a resigned sigh, fully aware I’m not completely forthcoming, but how could I be? He’d think I’m nuts for having a problem being near him.

Grabbing the hand luggage, we step off the jet. The strong breeze whips my hair into my face as the rain hits us. I can’t see where I’m going but make a mad dash for the airport building, anyway, in an attempt to stay dry.

Despite sprinting, we’re quickly drenched. Still, I run faster and right into the hard back of Aiden, who suddenly stopped as soon as the airport doors opened for him. The crash makes me stumble backward and land on my butt.

Oops, and ouch.

But it makes me laugh out loud. This really only seems to happen to me.

I look down at myself. The water drops on my nubile body glisten in the light of the terminal building and my white blouse is see-through now, clinging to my skin and showing off my white lace bra. Aiden’s gaze is riveted on it.

But I can’t complain about where his attention has wandered, because his white shirt is hugging him like a second skin too, outlining his washboard-hard six-pack… no, make that an eight-pack. And there’s a clear outline of something hard in his pants.

Holy shit!

Heat spreads through me like a wildfire. That shirtless lumberjack image just got a hell of a lot clearer. Aiden is a sight to behold. My core clenches helplessly, making me all too aware of its void.

Part of me is annoyed by how easily I’m aroused these days. But another part is pleased with the sexual tigress I’ve become. Rhia would be proud of me. I just pray Tiero hasn’t spoiled me for any other man.

Eventually, I let my gaze lift to meet Aiden’s blazing eyes. He clears his throat awkwardly. “We probably should get changed,” he suggests as he holds out a hand to help me up. I take it and zap, there’s the jolt of electricity I’ve come to expect, making my heart jump a little. It’s really getting a workout lately.

Aiden’s eyes linger on my cleavage again, before he tears them away and looks frantically around the terminal.

He points behind me. “There are restrooms right there. Meet you back here.” With that, he turns abruptly and rushes toward the bathroom.

Hmm, a massive storm doesn’t make him lose his cool, but my boobs do. Interesting. It pleases me more than it should.

With a grin on my face, I follow him and head to the ladies’. When I enter and see my reflection in the mirror, I can understand Aiden’s reaction better. Yep, I could easily win a wet t-shirt competition in this.

I rummage through my bag and put on my jeans and a long sleeve burgundy sweater. It’s quite cool here, but that’s probably not surprising given the bad weather and strong winds.

When I join Aiden again, he’s changed into another pair of jeans and has also opted for something long sleeve. The dark navy-blue polo hugs him perfectly, showcasing those arms I seem to be obsessed with. I bet he could lift me without batting an eyelash.

We go through immigration without a hitch, and yet again, with Aiden by my side, I’m not nervous. What is this calming effect he has on me? At least in potentially cover-blowing situations.

We walk through the terminal in silence until we reach the rental car section. Not surprisingly, given all the diverted passengers, there are long queues in front of each desk.

“I’m not sure they’ll have enough cars,” Aiden comments while we wait.

God, I hope they do.

“Fun fact,” he continues. I laugh. Here we go again. Let’s see what he’s got for me this time. “Combine all the Rent-A-Car companies and they will acquire about two million new cars each year.”

“Wow, that’s an awful lot of cars. I won’t even ask how you found that one out,” I mutter.

When we reach the rental car counter, they only have economy size cars left. I study Aiden’s six-foot, two-inch frame. Hmm, not ideal, but he’ll only have to suffer a few hours. I’m sure he’s been through worse.

“We’ll take it, thank you,” I say, and Aiden raises his eyebrows comically.

“What sort of car is it?” he asks, not sounding happy.
