“He’d have to be blind, deaf, and oblivious not to,” Cody answers.

“And he’s only one of those,” Blake jokes from behind, where I can feel him evaluating and cataloging all my cuts and bruises.

“Who were you looking for when you found us?” Cody asks.

“Blake. I wanted to see if we were still on for dinner together.” My pulse speeds up. Am I being presumptuous? “But I have some salmon and rice I can heat for myself. It’s no problem if you don’t want me—”

“Violet.” Blake grabs and spins me so I’m facing him. “We want you around all the time. Plus, we have things we need to get out in the open and explain.”

All the warmth from hearing his new pet name for me drains, replaced by a chill. Maybe this is when I tell them everything.

ChapterThirty

“Where have you guys been?” West asks without looking up from his computer as we walk into the cabin.

“Playing with Cherry,” Cody says with a smirk.

West’s head snaps up. “I hope you were gentle, because I wasn’t. She didn’t mention that she hasn’t been with anyone else until after I was inside her.”

“Wait, what?” Cody pauses at the fridge.

“You heard me. She hasn’t been with anyone since us.”

A wave of possessive pleasure that honestly belongs back in the last ice age runs between the three of us in an electric current. To be fair, I haven’t ever been inside a woman. She set the standard for me and I wasn’t interested in lowering it. Sure, Cody and I have had threesomes, it’s how our relationship budded. But I never fucked any of them, only him.

“Did you tell her you haven’t either?” Cody challenges.

“Why would I share that?” West scowls at his computer and taps on several keys aggressively. “She doesn’t need to know.”

“Whatever, man.” Cody rolls his eyes. “I’m going to shower.”

“She’s coming for dinner,” I tell him as I walk into the kitchen and pull the salmon out, as well as some spices I brought from home.

West’s laptop snaps shut and he joins me in the kitchen, washing his hands to help me. “Are we telling her everything tonight?”

“Yeah, I think we should. Do you think it was her uncle?”

“No. Her uncle is still in Colorado.”

“What?” I look over at him.

“I put surveillance on the mailbox in front of his trailer. He was home this morning.”

“Fuck, who did it, then?”

“Your guess is as good as mine. I didn’t hear anything last night. No car on the gravel. And you know how shitty I sleep.” At least how shitty his sleep patterns became after Violet ran away.

“Yeah, but you probably slept better last night with her beside you.”

He grunts and gives a slight nod. “Salad?”

“Sure. Everything is in the fridge.” Salad is the only thing I trust him to make. Pretty hard to mess up raw vegetables, but if it could be done, West would do it.

“We have to keep her safe,” he says after cutting the tomato and cucumbers.

“I know. We will.”

“We will what?” Violet asks from the door as she lets herself in along with her dogs and Blue.
