Summer’s face heated. “Weird, isn’t it? He really doesn’t seem to mind me bossing him around for another—” She checked the clock on the kitchen wall, “—fifteen-and-a-half-hours.”

“I’m just happy we turned a big profit yesterday.”

She turned from the prep counter, where she was assembling the ingredients for today’s lunch special of bison chili, and eyed Brock’s broad back. He stood at the mixer, making his pancake batter, resolutely keeping his back to them.

No oneshould sound that chipper at five-thirty in the morning. And especially not after only getting three-and-a-half hours of sleep. “Who are you and what have done with Mr. Grumpy Pants?” she demanded.

He snorted. “I could yell at you if you want me to, Ms. Bossy Pants-for-another-fifteen-and-a-half hours.”

“Nah, I’m good,” she retorted. “But maybe we need to change your nickname to Mr. Sunshine.”

Marlene chuckled at this. “Not so fast. Whatever’s making him so chirpy, I don’t think it’s gonna last.”

“You might be surprised, Sizzle Pants,” Brock said, reaching for a bottle of vanilla standing on the counter.

Summer noted the flush rising from the collar of his t-shirt to his nape and wondered whether his cryptic comment was a hint.

Is he interested in a replay of last night’s action?

She could be persuaded into extending their one-night stand into a weekend fling.

Because Marlene was only half-right.Twopeople in the diner’s kitchen were in extremely good moods this morning.

Even if one of them was sore in unmentionable places.

Summer had started morning prep hobbling around stiffly whilecertainmuscles protested loudly about the vigorous workout they’d gotten.

She’d had fallen asleep in Brock’s arms late last night.

At dawn, she’d awakened to find his face between her thighs, enthusiastically licking and sucking her to a climax.

Wow. She coulddefinitelyget used to waking up like this. It beat any regular alarm clock all to heck.

Then he handed her a strong, freshly brewed mug of coffee with a big glug of milk but no sugar, just the way she liked it. She was ready to marry him on the spot. Caffeine delivery in bed forgave any amount of stubborn and grumpy.

Once she came to full consciousness, she’d discovered her chef’s coat, pants, socks, and underwear, laundered and neatly folded in a stack.

No Walk of Shame for me this morning, yay!Not that she had anything to be ashamed about. She was an adult and single, and Brock was the same.

She still didn’t know if last night had been a onetime thing. When they left his cottage and got in their separate vehicles, Brock hadn’t mentioned he was interested in continuing whatever-it-was that they had started yesterday.

Summer tried to quash her disappointment. She’d had truly amazing sex last night. Plus, they’d worked out some of their issues. That was pretty amazing for a one-night stand. No need to make things weird and awkward if he wasn’t interested in a repeat.

Disappointing, though.

“So, are we doing dinner-only again next Friday?” Marlene asked. “Gotta say, it was nice to sleep in for a change and only have to show up here after lunch.”

“I vote yes,” Summer said.

“But what if no one shows up next Friday?” Brock countered. “I mean, you’re the one who said that most of the people last night were there because of your sister’s contest hype.”

“Even if that’s true, I think they’ll come back for the food,” Marlene predicted confidently. “Austin and Katie both told me we got nice reviews last night on Yelp. And from people in Bozeman and Livingston, too!”

“I’ll think about it,” Brock hedged.

“And I’m making an executive decision. Yes, on canceling Friday breakfast and lunch in favor of dinner,” Summer said firmly.

“But—” Brock began, his shoulders tense.
