Then Brock went down on one knee in front of her.

As Summer gaped at him, Jenna handed him the bakery box. He popped open the lid, revealing a chocolate cupcake frosted with dark chocolate ganache, Summer’s favorite treat from Jenna’s bakery.

His Gran’s antique sapphire-and-pearl engagement ring sparkled from the top of the cupcake. It was embedded in a rosette of ganache.

Belatedly, Summer realized what was happening. Autumn was grinning from ear-to-ear, and so were Marlene and the rest of the kitchen staff.

His face flushed, Brock cleared his throat. “Summer, you’ve turned my life upside-down in the best possible way. You gave both The Yummy Cowboy Diner and me a fresh start. I love you so much, and I want to spend the rest of my life making you happy. I want to fill our cottage with kids and good food and even better memories. Will you marry me?”

She stared down at him, speechless for a long moment. Then, in a choked voice, she said, “Yes! Yes, I’ll marry you. Living and cooking with you makes me so incredibly happy, Brock, and I want to keep doing more of both.”

A huge smile broke over his features. He tugged her down and seated her on his knee before leaning in to kiss her.

Everyone around them applauded. When Brock released her lips, Summer looked around the circle of friends and family, and knew that she’d come home to Snowberry Springs, and to Brock.
