Not that it was any of her business, but Lily knew what she was doing.

“You didn’t need to come down to see me,” she said to Lily. “How are you feeling?”

“I feel great. Not even like I’m pregnant, which is wonderful.”

“She’s craving weird stuff,” Jasmine said. “Don’t let her kid you.”

“Oh, really?” Zara asked. “Like what? Pickles and ice cream?”

“God, no. No combinations of things like that. Odd things I don’t normally eat. I wanted salt and vinegar chips the other day. I never eat that. That is Rose’s thing.”

“She didn’t just want them,” Jasmine said. “Sheneededthem. To the point she had to leave and go buy them at the store and ate the whole bag herself.”

“Tattletale,” Lily said to Jasmine. “It’s the truth. I don’t think I’ve ever eaten a full bag of chips in my life. Definitely not in one day.”

“At least it wasn’t one sitting,” she said.

“I was sitting at my desk while I ate them, but it was throughout the day. My craving is gone and I haven’t had it again since.”

“Nope,” Jasmine said. “But two days ago it was the same with skittles. I didn’t even know you liked skittles, but you had a big bag of them on your desk. Are they still there?”

“Yes,” Lily said. “I didn’t eat the whole bag of them. I’ve been picking at them daily though.”

Zara laughed. “There isn’t anything wrong with that. I took some time to come down and see if we were all set for Monday. The kids are excited. The staff too. It’s a great idea and I’m having everyone paint their little flowerpots on Friday so they will be good to go on Monday.”

“I’ll bring the dirt and the seeds,” Jasmine said.

“This is going to be so much fun,” she said. “And it’s not something completely for girls only. I had some of the boys paint their pots for their father which I thought was great.”

“Willow would have done that,” Lily said.

“She would have,” she said.

“If you’re done with Jasmine, why don’t we go talk,” Lily said. “I get the feeling you need to.”

She sighed. “I do. Are your sisters around?”

“They are,” Lily said. “In the back.”

She followed Lily to the back of the storefront where Poppy and Rose had their office spaces that they worked out of.

“I don’t want to take up too much of your time. I know you are all busy.”

“Not too busy for family,” Lily said, touching her shoulder. “We’d like to know how you are doing anyway.”

“Zara,” Poppy said. “Did you come for retail therapy?”

Poppy had jumped up from behind her desk when she popped her head in, then followed them to Rose’s space which had more room.

“No.”

“Not everyone needs something pretty when they are feeling down,” Rose said. “I’m sure she wants to talk.”

“Even better,” Poppy said. “Tell us what is going on. How are you feeling with Ren gone? Was it hard to help him pack up and leave?”

“Wow, Poppy,” Rose said sarcastically. “Nothing like cutting to the chase.”

“It’s fine,” Zara said. “Last weekend was hard. Ren had been packing up little by little the whole week. He couldn’t fit it all in his car, so it helped that I went for the weekend too and we put the rest in mine. Max’s crib that he’d bought is at my house for when they come and stay, but the rest went home with them except for a few toys he’d gotten for Christmas.”
