The door opened as we approached, revealing a long room with floor to ceiling bookshelves. A long wooden table with cushioned chairs took up the entire middle of the room. On the opposite end sat Rusalko with another man that I assumed was Einri.

The King gestured to the seat next to him, but my gaze was captured by the Moon Maiden portrait that took up the wall behind him. It was similar to the one in my room except her scepter was now a full moon, and her other hand was actually pulling down her blindfold, revealing a silvery-white eye that was piercing.

“Beautiful, isn’t it?” Rusalko asked, turning to see what had my undivided attention.

“Yes.” I whispered, glancing at him before returning my eyes to the painting.

“It was Einri’s mother who painted this.” Rusalko commented, taking a sip from his glass.

“She must have been extraordinary.” I whispered, feeling my heart race the longer I stared transfixed at the portrait.

“Arrow?” The King asked, but my eyesight had gone hazy.

“Hmm?” I wondered, feeling uncomfortably hot.

“Are you alright?” My vision swam, and the room spun as I managed to swing my head to face him.

“I’m not…sure.” My words slurred as I answered the King, blinking as I tried to get my eyes to focus.

My head swung to Einri hoping to see reassurance or a possible explanation.

Einri’s eyes were pure silver with no hint of green. I blinked, the gag in his mouth registering before everything grew fuzzy then darkness invaded, and I fell into blackness.
