“Us next,” he muttered into my neck, his beard tickling my skin.

I chuckled lightly. “I think Valentina will pop before me.” I looked over at our friends standing on the other side of Bree and Enzo. It was a bit of a competition between us as our due dates were just days apart, but Valentina had already had a baby, so I was betting she’d be first.

Since moving in next door to Ella and Logan, something odd had happened. We’d all started popping out babies! Even Ella and Logan who were unable to have any of their own had adopted four-month-old, Parker, a few weeks ago.

It was like now that we were all safe, we’d started to think more about the future.

After I’d gotten out of the hospital, as promised, Aidan had packed everything up and we’d gone travelling for six months. By the time we’d come back and bought the neighboring property overlooking the water, I’d been pregnant… as had Valentina, andBree.

Niamh had been born two months ago, and Valentina and I were neck and neck for the next baby in the group.

Aidan and Enzo had started working with Lex and Logan at Lex’s security company, and business was booming. Sometimes he had to go away, which was a bit of a bummer, and I missed him so much it hurt, but I always had Ella, Bree and Valentina to support me.

For the first time in a long time, I was surrounded by family and friends. Life was good, and I’d never been so happy.

I leaned back into my husband, contentment washing through me.

“I love you,” I whispered to him as Bree passed the wriggling baby to Enzo and we were all ordered to pose for pictures. We’d all decided we’d be each other’s kids’ godparents, just in case something ever happened, we’d know where our kids were… but none of us were anticipating this all coming to an end.

Since we’d left New York, leaving the dark stain of the mob behind, there’d be no incidents. No one missing. No shoot outs. Everything was peaceful.

“I love you too,” He replied, kissing the spot beneath my ear. “I’ve got something for you later.”

“Oh yeah?” I waggled my eyebrows, turning in his arms to face him as the pictures finished.

“Not like that… but yeah, also that,” he chuckled.

He lead me hand in hand to the cars and we all headed back to Bree and Enzo’s house. They lived just a few streets from us, deciding on a smaller, cottage style house with a pretty view of the mountains from Bree’s art studio.

She was still in the process of opening her Seattle gallery, and now Niamh had been born, I was sure it wouldn’t take long to be up and running.

We stayed for a while, mingling with friends and neighbors until Aidan quietly pulled me away from the group and into our waiting car.

“I can’t share you with anyone for a minute longer,” he growled in my ear as the driver set off towards home.

I chuckled. “You’ll be sharing me with someone else for forever,” I reminded him, patting my belly.

“They sleep, don’t they? And they’ll eventually go off to college.” He winked at me and squeezed my hand as I laughed.

Aidan was looking forward to being a father, but I knew he was nervous. He wanted to do better than his own father had done for him, and I was sure he would. Aidan was a good man.

When we arrived home he led me straight to the bedroom.

Inside, he moved to his dresser and pulled out a box, approaching me with it.

“What’s that?” I asked as I shrugged out of my coat and hung it in the closet.

He grabbed my wrist, caressing his fingers across where my bracelet hung, and when he pulled away, there was a new charm hanging there. A smooth figure eight.

“Forever, Cait.”

I grinned at him, nodding.

“Forever.”
