“They killed Mom and Quinn, or did you forget about that whilst you were eye fucking their prince.”

Probably more than just eye fucking.

“Don’t speak to her like that!” Enzo snarled, rushing at me.

This Dick!

I reached for my gun. I’d put a bullet in his chest right now. Fuck their deal. Fuck everything.

“Stop!” Bree squealed trying to wriggle between us as I shoved him back. I felt arms around me, dragging me away as Salvatore started chuckling.

“Calm down, lad,” my father growled as Carrick and Niall held my arms down.

“Get off of me,” I spat in disgust. I wasn’t a child. I shrugged them off and glared at them when they reached for me again. “Don’t fucking touch me.”

“You need to calm down. Apologize to your sister.”

Bree left Enzo and stood in front of me, righteousness glowing in her eyes.

“Sorry,” I muttered, rolling my eyes. I wasn’t sorry, but my father wouldn’t let it drop and the last thing we needed was to fight in front of the enemy. If they thought we were falling apart they’d strike us even harder.

“I know what they did, Aidan. I know that Mom is gone, and I know Quinn never got to grow up because of them, but if we let this carry on, someone else’s mom or dad will get hurt. Someone else’s child won’t get to grow up. I can’t have that on my conscience, even if you are okay with it.”

I opened my mouth to reply, but she carried on.

“If you don’t agree to make peace and cooperate with them, I will no longer be a part of this family.”

How could she say that? She was the only thing my father got out of bed in the morning for. How selfish could she be?

“Bree, please,” Dad sighed, reaching out to touch her shoulder. “Your mother-”

“Mom was better than this, Dad. Mom would hate all of this, and Quinn…she never hurt anyone in her life. Why would she want people to die in her name?”

I was furious… she was right in some ways. Quinn would never have wanted this… she would have wanted to grow up. She would have wanted to go to college and start a life. She couldn’t do that because of them. I couldn’t understand how Bree could look past all that.

“You are right, I know you are right.” He reached out and squeezed her hand, keeping one on my shoulder.

“Thank you.” She smiled at him, and I tuned out completely. I couldn’t believe this. I needed to hit something. I needed to get the fuck out of here before it was one of their faces.

My father shook hands with Enzo and they said a few more words, but I wasn’t listening. I clenched my fists again, trying to keep my cool. Then we left. Bree slipped into the car with me and Dad, and Carrick and Niall followed up the rear.

I stared out of the window, completely ignoring my family… I couldn’t even look at them right now.

Mom… Quinn… Cait’s parents. They’d taken so much from us, and there was no way I was going to forgive and forget.

My phone had been buzzing away for a while, and I knew it was Cait. I’d sort of left her hanging with the message I’d sent earlier.

When the cars dropped us back at the house, I checked the messages. There were seven, asking me to call her.

I would do more than that.

I needed to see her and make her leave… this peace deal, trick or not, was an invitation to our other enemies to start trying to tear our alliance apart… she’d be in even more danger of being collateral damage than before.

She had to leave.
