But I wasn’t complaining. I loved it when Aidan was rough with me.

Every part of my body ached from the workout, and then theworkoutAidan had given me, and I wanted nothing more than to curl up in bed and not surface until tomorrow, but Brianna would kill me if I missed out on my bachelorette party.

Which reminded me she was due to arrive any moment, and she would not be happy if I couldn’t at least muster up some enthusiasm for tonight.

I hauled my ass off the couch and staggered to the bathroom to shower, stripping off my workout clothes as I padded through the master bedroom.

The whole apartment was decorated in soothing neutrals and dark wood furniture, except the master. I’d insisted on my bright pink sheets, much to Aidan’s horror. He’d nearly tripped over his own feet when he’d walked in and seen the bed made up, complete with fluffy pillow covers and one of those cushions with the sequins that spelled out rude words when you pushed them the wrong way.

It was my home, after all.

Not for much longer…

Tomorrow I’d be on a plane to Seattle, on my way to my wedding…

My wedding…

There was a time where I really thought it wasn’t going to happen. For years Aidan had spent every second working and regaining Cullen’s trust as their family’s business expanded. We’d pushed back the date several times so that Aidan could focus on work, and I’d been okay with it at first, but the longer it had dragged out, the more I’d struggled to keep the faith that it would happen. I’d been in love with Aidan for as long as I could remember, and then he’d asked me to marry him. I’d accepted in less than a heartbeat. I’d expected we would be married quickly, but no such luck.

I sighed, stepping inside the shower cubicle to turn the water on.

I guessed part of me was still waiting for the explosion that was going to stop the wedding. I didn’t think I’d truly believe it until I was standing at the end of the aisle with him.

I showered, scrubbing my skin raw to remove every trace of sweat and replace it with the strawberry glitter scent of my shower gel, and then washed my hair. I must have taken longer than I expected, because suddenly the door burst open. I would have screamed, but I knew exactly who it was invading my privacy.

Me and Bree didn’t have a whole lot of privacy between us, but I did usually draw the line at bathroom intrusions.

“Hey!” I yelled at her through the steam.

“You’re running late,” she announced, moving closer, “Damn, Cait!” She suddenly exclaimed.

“What?”

“Aidan is gonna kill you when he sees that bruise.”

“What bruise?” I twisted frantically, trying to see where she was talking about. As I scanned the back of my hip, I saw it. A vivid, purple bruise staining my skin from a roundhouse kick.

“Shit,” I muttered, trying to contort into a ridiculous position so I could see the whole thing.

“No, first, he’s gonna kill your trainer.Thenhe’s gonna kill you.”

Aidan hated the idea of anyone or anything marking what was his… I’d nearly ripped his head off the first time he’d said it, but now the idea made me so hot for him it was ridiculous.

“Do you think you’ll see it through my dress?” I gasped, my eyes shooting to my best friend. It was really quite severe in color, and my dress was a thin, gauzy material.

“Maybe, but I’ve got some Arnica in my bag. That should bring some of the color down.” She plopped herself down on the toilet lid.

“What are you doing?” I gaped at her. Was she actually going to sit there and watch me?

“Staring at your tits, obviously.” She rolled her eyes and leaned back, reaching in her bag for her cellphone.

Oh fuck it. It wasn’t anything she hadn’t seen before.

I finished off my shower, and Brianna very helpfully passed me my robe as I wrapped my hair up in a towel. She followed behind me, dropping onto my bed.

“Are you ready for tonight?”

“No,” I grouched. As I sat at my dressing table to dry my hair, I was hit with a sense of dejavu. I vaguely recalled having a very similar conversation the day of her gallery opening when she was less than enthusiastic about it.
