"Fine," she huffs, making me smile. "But if Aunt Ophelia gets you tossed in jail, I'm not bailing you out."

Chapter Five

Scarlett

"Hey,what–?"

Finn grabs my arm in a gentle vise, sending me toppling into his chest between two shelves in the nonfiction section. His mouth slashes down over mine, silencing my question before I can even voice it.

I groan, wrapping myself around him like his own personal security blanket as heat flashes to steam in my veins and desire ignites with a whoosh of sound. He licks into my mouth, his free hand roaming across my ass as if we're the only two in the store. His touch is possessive and sure, as if he knows I belong to him and doesn't care who sees us like this.

His confidence is sexy as hell to me. So is the way he rumbles when he kisses me. And the way he attacks my mouth like he can't stop himself. There's nothing gentle about Finn when he kisses me. He's sweet as pie until he gets his hands on me, and then he turns into a beast, just like he did last night. I love it so much.

This man is a mess of beautiful contradictions, and every single one makes me fall a little harder. He's soft yet hard, gentle but fierce. He's a card-carrying member of Mensa, yet he looks like he just stepped off the pages of a magazine. He's charming but awkward, endearing but bossy. It's as if the universe sprinkled all my weaknesses into this man just to tempt me.

And oh, my goodness! I've never beenmoretempted.

Without even trying, he's stolen my heart. Not fragments of it or small pieces but the whole darn thing. I don't even know when it happened or how. He snuck in like a freaking ninja! One minute, my heart belonged to no one. The next, his name lit up every corner of space. He probably planned it. He is a super-spy.

"Jesus, this perfect mouth," he growls against my lips.

"Stop kissing it."

"Hell no." He kisses me again.

"You can't kiss me at work."

"Oh, yeah?"

My toes curl when he kisses me this time. I'm pretty sure steam curls from the ends of my hair. My knees definitely go weak. I know this because by the time he lets me up for air, I'm wedged between the bookshelf and his body, and those two things are all that's keeping me upright. Well, those two things and the fact that I'm clinging to his shoulders like he's a buoy and I'm in shark-infested waters.

"If we were alone right now, I'd be doing a whole lot more than kissing you at work, pretty baby," he says, tucking strands of hair behind my ears. "You'd be spread across a pile of books, and I'd know exactly what you sound like screaming my name."

"That would ruin the books."

He grins at me. "Fine, then we'd see how long you could keep reading the dirty parts while I eat you on top of my worktable."

Oh, yes, please.

"You don't even work at that table, Finn," I say, smiling at him.

"Yes, I do."

I cock a brow at him, silently letting him know that I know he's full of it.

"I'm studying you." He taps me on the nose. "I've learned quite a lot so far, you know."

"I hope you've learned to put books back because you've amassed quite a pile over there." I lean away from him, peering around the corner of the shelf at his table. An entire stack of romance novels takes up the corner of the table he's claimed as his own. He reads ridiculously fast. I bet when he races his Kindle, he always wins.

"I'm buying those."

I blink wide eyes at him.

"My brother's wives will thank you later."

I giggle, burying my face in his chest. And then I pull back to look at him. "Exactly how many brothers do you have?"

"Nine. And Rulie."
