Noble, yes. But stupid.

Emma’s answering stare is cold and calculated. “That bastard deserves to die for the things he’s done. Do what you want with the information. I don’t care. Just get me the hell out of this engagement while you’re at it, Sam. I’ll figure out how to deal with the rest.”

Okay. So maybe she does realize it.

“Done,” I tell them both, then hand Emma a piece of paper. “Write her name and number here. I’ll let you guys know when we’re ready to make our move.”

As I slide into my black Bugatti Chiron later that night, I debate whether to let Amelia know I’m coming over. I’m thinking it’s better to just show up. I have a feeling, after last night, she may ignore my call or leave her apartment just to spite me. Her feisty spirit is one of my favorite things about her.

Leaving myself a few options, I text Dean to make sure one of our guys is still outside her building and that she’s still home.

Once that’s confirmed, it’s only a short drive there from my place in the city. I find myself smiling as I start to imagine her getting all sorts of feisty about having a bodyguard last night. When Snow gets feisty, her milky white skin flushes an incredibly sexy red. I can’t say I haven’t imagined finding out for myself just how much of her body that fiery flush covers.

Or what other ways I can make her skin hot.

However, when I park my car in front of her building and see the lights off in her apartment, I start to consider the fact that she may have slipped passed her bodyguard tonight.

Goddammit, Snow.

Instead of heading straight for her door, I walk over to Marco’s car as he rolls down his window.

“Hey, boss.” He tips his head. “You got her for the night? Or you want me to stick around?”

“You been here all day, Marco?”

“Nah. I just came back on an hour or so ago. Pauly was here before me.” He nods his head toward Amelia’s building. “She’s up there. I don’t know what the fuck she’s doing in the dark, but I’ve seen her peek through the curtains a few times.”

“I need you to stick around. I’m not sure how long I’m gonna be here.” I tap the top of his car and turn to head up the stairs.

Snow knows I’m coming. I told her last night.

She also knows I’m here because my girl would have gotten a warning when I purposely tripped the alarm walking up her stairs.

However, she ignores my knock on her door.

She ignores the text that follows the knock on her door too.

Let’s see her ignore this... I bang on the door one more time, then yell, “Open the damn door, Snow. Or I’m going to put round-the-clock bodyguards on you permanently.”

Yup. That gets her moving. I’m greeted by a scene reminiscent of my first night in this apartment when the door cracks open, the chain still in place. “Go away, Samuel. You are not welcome until you call off your dogs.”

“No can do, Snow. Let me in. Tell me what’s going on. Then maybe I’ll call off the dogs. But not a second before I know you’re safe.” I half expected to be met by the muzzle of a gun, so I’m counting this as a win.

She lets out a groan of frustration before slamming the metal door shut and reopening it seconds later.

When I walk into her dark apartment, it’s to see her storming across the room before she pours herself a glass of wine. “Speak, Sam. And make it fast. I don’t like you very much right now.”

She’s wearing one of those ribbed tank tops she likes with her Sweet Temptations cupcake stretching across her perfect tits. And I get my answer... The flush that’s worked its way up her neck and face also disappears down the front of her white tank.

“Well? What are you waiting for?” She sips her wine and stares, wanting an answer.

The question is, will she like me more or less once she finds out where I was?
