“I only just found out this week, Belles. I’ve barely had time to process it, and I have absolutely no idea what to do with any of it.” My eyes dart around the room, not sure what to expect.

“Well.” Nattie smiles a tentative smile. “Lenny is awesome. I think you’d really like her if you got the chance to know her. Plus, in all honesty, if you’re in this thing with Sam Beneventi for the long haul, I think you and Lenny are going to be in each other’s lives anyway. She and Bash are the total endgame.”

Brady, whose lap Nat moved off a few minutes into my story, wraps his arm around her shoulder. “She’s right. That girl is Bash’s girl. We’ve met a few of her brothers. Sawyer owns a bar in Old City called Kingdom. Hudson is an MMA fighter. They’re both pretty cool.”

“I know Max, Beckett, and Scarlet,” Declan offers. “They run the Kings organization. Max is a typical oldest child. Total type A. Worries about everyone. In charge of everything.” Dec looks at his siblings. “All the responsibility. None of the accolades. He’s a really good guy. Beckett is a lawyer. He’s a bit of a goofball, but he’s crazy smart.”

Annabelle squeezes my hand again. “I know I had my issues with Scarlet when we first met, but once you get to know her, she’s loyal to a fault. She’s a good person to have in your corner.”

I turn my head to look at Cooper. “What... ? Don’t you know any of the Kingstons, Coop?”

“No. But I know a hundred and twenty-three ways to kill a man without leaving a trace of evidence. If any of them or Sam Beneventi hurts you, all you need to do is call.”

That’s when it happens.

That’s when the tears fall.

That’s when my walls come crashing down.

That’s when I realize that inviting the Kingstons into my life doesn’t have to be scary because I already have a man who loves me and will stand by my side. And I already have a family surrounding me and supporting me.

That’s when the pieces of my fucked-up puzzle start to finally fit into place.
