I haven’t seen her since Vegas.

What the hell is Scarlet doing here?

“Okay. Be right there.” I turn back to the cage and give the guys instructions before making my way to where Scarlet stands next to the front desk. She’s a fucking knock-out in a black pants suit with bright red heels on her feet, giving her a few extra inches. Her long auburn hair is pulled back in a sleek ponytail, and her pouty lips are tight. Unsmiling.

I don’t know what the fuck she has to be pissed about.

I’m the one who got thrown out like shit on her shoe the next morning.

I stop closer to her than personal space rules would deem appropriate so she’ll have to tilt her head up to look at me. Exposing her slender neck that I have the sudden urge to lick.

Fuck. “Scarlet? Is everything okay? You need me to get Hudson for you?” I’ve been back in Kroydon Hills for six years, and her brother has been training here with my father, and then me, the entire time. Yet, this is the first time I’ve seen her set foot in Crucible.

Her gaze travels up the length of me.

So I cross my arms over my chest and flex my biceps when her eyes linger there.

She bites down on her bottom lip before meeting my stare. “Actually, I’m here to see you.”

Just as I’m about to ask if she wants to move into my office, Hudson joins us. “Scar, what’s up? What are you doing here?”

She quickly glances his way. “I’m here to talk to Cade, Hud. Can you give us a minute?”

Hudson’s brow furrows as he looks between his sister and me. “I didn’t know you two were friends.”

“Hud, the amount of things you don’t know could fill every last seat in the Kings stadium. I’ll see you later,” she dismisses him before turning back to me.

“What the fuck, Scarlet?” Hudson takes a step toward his sister.

When she squares her shoulders like she’s preparing for war, I slide in between them. I may be pissed at her, but I don’t need these two getting into a fight in the middle of my gym.

Because I’m looking at Scarlet, I don’t see the hit coming, but pain radiates in my jaw as Hudson clocks me, knocking me to the fucking ground.

I jump back up and shove him backward. “What’s your problem, asshole?” He may be the current heavyweight champion, but I’ve got him beat by ten pounds and three belts.

“Kick his ass, Daddy.”

Fucking seriously? “Could somebody get her out of here?”

When Hudson steps forward again, Jax grabs him from behind. “What the fuck, Hud?”

He looks at me, fury radiating from his face. “You’re my problem. You knocked up my goddamn sister.”

My arms, which had been tensed in front of me, ready to block Hud again, drop heavily to my sides as I turn slowly back to Scarlet.

Shocked.

Confused.

Furious.

I look over in time to see Scarlet place a business card on the front desk, then move in front of her brother and slap him across the face, leaving a bright red handprint behind. “Fuck you, Hudson. That wasn’t your truth to tell. You’re the second sibling to take away my choice in discussing this. If you ever speak for me again, it will be the last time you ever speak to me.” She walks away with Hudson calling after her.

Never looking back.

While I stand there, dumbfounded and staring after her.

Hudson shrugs out of Jax’s hold and moves toward the door before Imogen grabs his arm, stopping him in his tracks.

“Cade.” My sister turns to me as if I’m the biggest asshole to ever live. “Go after her.”

I think it’s about time I finally did that.
