Chrissie tried to pull away, but the arm around her waist kept her imprisoned.

“Let me go, Drake.”

“I thought I said you owe me for shouting at me the other day. You were meant to do your job, and you stormed off.” His breath tickled her ear, and Chrissie flinched. “So, you owe me. I’m easy on how you repay me.”

“Owe you? I owe you for you sexually harassing me?” Chrissie dug her elbow back, hitting solid muscle, but nothing happened. “Let me go, Drake. Do you want me to scream?”

“You think anyone’s going to hear over this music? Try it.”

“Get your hands off her, fucker!” Rita shoved his arm. “She said to leave her alone! Are you deaf?”

Drake barely acknowledged her. Chrissie knew he wasn’t going to leave that easily, unless it was with him. She looked at Brianna, who was already inching out of the booth.

“Get security, Brianna.”

“I’m on it.”

Brianna hurried away. Drake chuckled.

“They’re not going to do anything. I’m with my girl, and she’s getting drunk. I’m just looking after her.”

“Fuck off!” Maisie was also coming out of the booth. “She said to let go, didn’t she? Even if she was your girl, wouldn’t you listen to what she wants?”

Drake sighed.

“Honestly, your friends are stupid and boring. How about we go somewhere quieter and have a bit of alone time?”

Chrissie panicked. There was no way she was going anywhere with him. She tried to pull away, but Drake was not letting go.

“Get off her, you fucker!” Talia cried. “Why do you have to spoil the mood?”

Carys looked very nervous. Maisie, June and Talia were glaring at Drake, while Rita looked as if she was going to hit him over the head with a glass. Then she looked past Drake and Chrissie, and her eyes widened.

“Coach Brown!”

Chrissie’s heart almost stopped. Forrest was here? She almost burst into tears in relief. Drake stiffened.

“What? Are you trying to screw with me?”

“What the hell are you doing, Drake?”

Chrissie heard Forrest’s voice, and it sent a shiver down her spine. Damn, that voice of his could turn her into mush no matter how hard she tried to ignore it. With her still in his hold, Drake turned, and Chrissie saw Forrest and Daniel Radley approaching them. She hadn’t realized the two of them were in the bar. Both coaches were glaring at Drake, Forrest striding over with his fists clenched. He looked like he was going to take a swing at the quarterback.

“Coach Brown. Coach Radley.” Drake let go of Chrissie abruptly. “What are you doing here?”

The moment he let her go, Chrissie didn’t need to think. She rushed straight at Forrest, wrapping her arms around his waist as she buried her face against his chest. God, she hadn’t done this since she was in high school. But she still remembered how solid and warm Forrest felt.

It felt like a slice of heaven after what she had just experienced.

Forrest’s arms went around her immediately, but his voice rumbled through his body and made her shiver.

“What the fuck are you doing? We could hear them across the bar. And you’re putting your hands on Chrissie?”

“Chrissie and I arranged to meet, and she ducked out to be with her girlfriends instead. There’s nothing to see here.”

“Bullshit!” Rita snorted. “As if Chrissie would go out with a creep like you?”

Drake started to turn towards her, but Daniel’s sharp tone stopped him.
