I knew what he was asking. He wanted me to stop pushing him away. He wanted me to let him in. Into my home, and my heart again.

Scratching my nails through his stubble, I kissed him softly, whispering the one word that would mean everything to him: “Always.”

He exhaled in relief and settled himself between my legs. His ridged length was a tease, pressing against the entrance between my thighs. His eyes turned to a beautiful shade of gold and a low growl rumbled in his throat.“You’re mine.”

I nodded, repeating my promise as he thrust forward, pushing his way inside me. “Always.”

My hips rose to meet his as he pulled back. A warm tingling chill ran through my chest, and I dug my nails into his shoulders. Jackson hissed and slammed his hips forward. His control snapping as he unleashed himself in a punishing rhythm.

My thoughts scattered. I couldn’t catch my breath, my legs and back tensed. His hands skimmed my breasts and tears welled in my eyes. I’d wanted him for every minute we’d been apart, but I couldn’t form the words. I couldn’t breathe.

Jackson pulled out and flipped me over onto my chest. He pressed against my back, and his calloused palms brushed over my nipples.

“I love you,” he said, holding me tight. “I love you so much it hurts.”

I whimpered, “Jackson.”

“I want you to feel what I feel.” His hands lifted my hips and he pushed inside me again. Sheathing himself to the hilt. “Do you know what you do to me? Do you know how hard it’s been to stay away from you? Do you know how much it hurt? How much I’ve been missing you? How much I crave you? Crave being buried inside you like this?”

Clawing my hands in the blanket, I let out a deep groan.“I know.”

“I don’t think you do.” He pulled back and slammed forward again, hard enough to make my teeth rattle.

My toes curled and a delicious agony rippled through me. Turning my head, I looked back at him over my shoulder. “Then show me.”

Pulse

Jackson and I collapsed in a heap hours later. The sky outside had turned a softer shade of blue, and every inch of me was trembling, covered in sweat. I could barely move. Every time I thought he was finished, Jackson’s energy surged. I didn’t know how much longer I could keep up.

“You’re trying to kill me,” I moaned, stretching out beside him. “I mean seriously. Woof!”

He chuckled, trailing his fingers down my sternum. “Woof?”

“It seemed thematically appropriate.”

“How are you feeling? How’s the cuff?” he asked, propping himself up on an elbow.

“It’s fine.” I lifted my wrist and twisted the cuff around in a circle. “I can barely feel it. The spell is just this light little tingle under my skin whenever I think about it.”

“Sounds pleasant.”

“Not quite as pleasant as this.” I wiggled my fingers, gesturing at his body. “You’ve definitely kept yourself in shape.”

“So, have you. I guess private investigating is more lucrative than I thought,” he teased.

“How do you still have the energy to tease me?” I pouted, reaching to touch his chin. My hand shook like a leaf.

“You make it easy, but you can chalk it up to my werewolf constitution if that makes you feel better.” He kissed me softly.

“Again?” I murmured against his lips.

“Hmmm, tempting,” he purred, brushing his nose against mine. “But I think we both need some rest.Andfood. I’m starving.”

I stretched beneath him, eliciting a groan from deep in his chest. I bit my lip.“I’m not sure I’m strong enough to get out of this bed, let alone walk downstairs.”

“You don’t have to. Just stay here. Relax and I’ll bring us something,” he said, pulling away from me. “Just have to find some fresh pants. My old ones are still down in the library thanks to you.”
