I feel a wave of arousal wash over me. Kissing. Blowjobs. When I think of Kai right after those words, they make me feel exactly the way I do when I try to sleep at night with two other girls in the room and think of him, wanting to touch myself.

“Did you date any of them?” I ask.

Maddy squints at me.

I shrug. “Sorry. Is it none of my business?”

“It’s all right. I didn’t.”

She sinks into the water and reemerges, wiping her face with her palms.

I don’t ask anything else.

Instead, I watch Ty, who crawls like a monkey up the rocks in the distance and to the top of the falls. He stands on top of the cliff, and my heart ceases to beat.

“Tell him to stop,” I murmur in a slight panic.

Maddy only laughs. “Chill. He’s done it a hundred times. It’s deep there. Watch.”

And Ty, the freaking fearless ray of sunshine that he is, pushes off the cliff and jumps.

He is like a bird. He folds his arms above him, his hands together in a spear, and dives into the water with a sharp splash worthy of an Olympic medal.

Everyone cheers.

I grin. I freaking love him.

Freaking Ty!

Dani is about twenty feet away, motionless, staring in that direction.

Ty’s head pops up above the water about thirty feet away from us, and he swims brass style in our direction and toward Dani, who is perched on one of the rocks like a bird.

He pushes himself up on his hands on the stone platform she is on, water dripping off him. “You wanna try, angel?”

She shakes her head with a smile.

He pushes up and twists, taking a seat next to her, and shakes his head like a dog, showering her with water.

She laughs, shielding herself.

“He is trying,” Maddy says, watching them with a smile. “He is really into her.”

“And she is really messed up,” I add.

Maddy nods. “Yeah, looks like it. But he might get through to her.”

I look around and see Kai floating in the water, his face up toward the sky.

“Kai is the best,” Maddy says. “He can do flips and all kinds of crazy shit. He is fearless. He is being shy tonight.”

She smiles at me.

I want to see Kai dive. But his presence is enough.

What the hell is my problem?

It’s like four years ago.
