“So where do I fit in?”

Reviewing his schedule in my head, there’s only one good time to try and get the four of us together. Well, that’s not true, but I also want alone time with my girls.

“How about tomorrow night?” I ask as we walk through the airport, following the signs to baggage claim. “You should be done by four o’clock, and I’m sure I can sneak away a little early. We’ll meet up with them for an early dinner and a few drinks. Maybe play tourist a little and check out some of the sights. Austin stays busy enough that I know there are places she still hasn’t visited.”

“That sounds like a plan, but I think you may have underestimated your friends.”

When I look over at him in confusion, I find him staring straight ahead, toward the bottom of the escalator we’re currently riding down. The smirk on his face has alarm bells ringing on my head. Following his line of sight, I let out a sigh.

My best friends don’t listen. I should have expected as much.

They’re each holding a large sign over their heads, one says Tay and the other Lor. Austin, still in a gray suit and heels, more than likely coming straight here from work, is now shaking her narrow hips, the smile on her face growing when our eyes connect. The pink glitter from her sign is sparkling in the light as it rains down on her.

Hayden, on the other hand, has her eyes locked on Eli. Her glare is heated. She’s eating him alive with her stare, devouring every inch of his body as if he were naked.

“Watch out for the brunette,” I state firmly. “She’s the one that thinks you have a sexy voice.”

“And you don’t?” he quickly counters.

“I’m pretty sure I never said one way or the other.”

“Care to enlighten me?”

“Not at the moment,” I state, stepping off the escalator and moving aside as I plant my feet, preparing for what’s about to happen next. Austin dropped her sign and started rushing toward us, her arms spread wide, the moment we reached the bottom. “Sexy voice or not, leave your shirt on. I don’t want to fight with her about a picture I owe her.”

Austin’s arms engulf me as soon as the last word passes my lips. I hug her just as fiercely as I watch Hayden slowly approach, wrapping her arms around the both of us. We stay like this for a few minutes, letting it sink in that we’re together again before any of us speak. It’s not a surprise Hayden’s the first to pipe up.

“So, are you going to introduce us to your boyfriend, or should we pretend like he hasn’t been watching us?”

“Not. My. Boyfriend,” I state firmly but quietly.

“Not what I heard,” Austin chimes in, my eyes raising in confusion. “But that’s a conversation for when we’re not in public.”

“Eli Simms,” I hear Eli say to Hayden as I maintain eye contact with Austin. “Taylor’s boyfriend.”

My head whips in his direction, my jaw dropping open slightly at his announcement.

We haven’t had the conversation about what we are yet. How we want to label our relationship. Does it feel like we’re dating? That he’s my boyfriend?

Yes, but to hear him say it … it felt like a declaration of love.
