The achethat’s been consuming my heart for years has been replaced by an ache in my core. And my legs. My back.

My entire body hurts in the best way possible. And if he wanted to go another round, I wouldn’t hesitate.

By the time we made it to the kitchen to eat, the pizza was cold. The sun had set, the night blanketing us in darkness until Eli managed to find a light switch. After reheating our dinner, we curled up on the couch and turned on a movie to watch while we ate.

“I should probably head back to my villa before Celia sends out a search party,” I say as I rinse off my plate, the thought making me laugh. The girl doesn’t give a shit about me. I could be dead on the front porch, and she wouldn’t even call the police. Nope, she’d step over my body and head to the set without a care in the world.

“Or you could just stay here,” he suggests, taking the plate from my hands and drying it with a towel.

“And how would I explain that?”

“You don’t answer to anyone, Taylor. You’re an adult. I know you want to keep your personal life private, but she already knows something is going on between us. You staying here isn’t going to change her opinion. She’s still going to be jealous. She’s going to continue to be a bitch to you. Why not enjoy the benefits?”

He makes a good point.

“Fine, but I need to at least grab my things.”

“Tomorrow.” Dropping the towel onto the counter, Eli wraps his arms around me, pulling me tight against his chest. “Tonight you can borrow a shirt to sleep in.”

“I’m pretty sure my thong is ruined. I’m going to need a pair of shorts, too.”

“Or you could just sleep naked,” he suggests, his hands beginning to wander under my shirt, massaging my breasts gently before pinching my right nipple, causing me to let out a little yelp.

I put on my jeans and shirt before we sat down to eat. My underwear were still soaked, and my bra was missing. Not that I spent that much time looking for it. I was starving.

“Is that a yes?”

“I already said I’d stay here tonight,” I moan as he pinches my nipple again.

“Not just tonight, Taylor. Stay until we have to head back to LA.” Another pinch, and my knees are threatening to buckle. “And sleep naked. I can’t seem to get enough of your body.”

“I’m not sleeping naked so you can screw me whenever you want,” I protest, smacking at his chest playfully.

“Your skin is so soft; I just want to touch it. If we happen to make love after I explore every inch of you, so be it.”

Make love.

He didn’t say have sex or fuck.

Making love is for people who are in love with each other. I’ve only known him for three months. I’ve just begun to trust him. It was only hours ago I agreed to be in a relationship with him.

Love?

That’s not even on my radar.

We’re in the lust phase. The honeymoon part of being in a relationship when everything is still exciting and new. The other person’s bad habits are cute. Little things are easy to dismiss.

We have so much to learn about each other. Obstacles to navigate. Our relationship will be tested time and time again.

Baby steps.

But wasn’t I the one who said the L word first? A slip of the tongue, sure. But his response has stuck with me since that day.

“Somewhere down deep, you meant it.”

“What just happened?” Eli asks, stepping back and holding me at arm’s length by my shoulders. “What did I say?”
