A kiss to my temple and he’s settling us against the back of the couch. We stay there for a while, sitting in comfortable silence, while my brain attempts to catch up to what’s going on around me.

I have work to do.

Work that I should have started the second I hung up the phone with Ansen.

When I turn to look up at Eli, I find him sound asleep, his head resting against the cushion. With his mouth slightly parted, he looks peaceful. We’ve kept each other up the last few nights. Talking. Getting to know each other better. Enjoying each other’s company, both with and without clothes on.

I’m not surprised he fell asleep. I could go for a nap right now, too. Unfortunately, I don’t have the option. If he’s here, shooting has wrapped for the day. We’re done with this location. Tomorrow we head back to LA, and then on Monday we’re pushing onward. The rest of the movie can be shot at the studio. And it’s my job to make sure we’re ready to go.

Full steam ahead.

Straight to the finish line.

With only seven weeks left on the schedule, and Ansen hoping to finish earlier, there’s no room for mistakes. We can’t afford any more off days or twenty-take scenes. It sounds like Celia finally figured out how to act, so I’m hoping we’re able to breeze through the next couple of weeks and wrap the entire project in record time.

Wiggling out of Eli’s arms, I grab my phone and laptop, heading out onto the front porch. After settling on the swing, I get to work making the necessary arrangements. The sun is starting to set by the time I’m sending my final email, closing my laptop with a smile on my face. Staring at the horizon as the sun kisses it, I feel Eli before I hear him approach. He takes the seat next to me, leaning back, and I rest my head against his shoulder.

“It’s beautiful,” he notes. “Is it everything you dreamed it would be when you first saw it?”

“What do you mean?”

“You were staring at this swing the day we arrived. This is what you were picturing, right?”

“Yeah.”

“Well? Does it meet your expectations?”

Looking over my shoulder, I smile up at Eli as I say, “No. It’s even better than I imagined.”

I don’t have to say because he’s here with me, the message is implied. And considering he steals my breath with a kiss, he understands completely. Hell, he might even agree.
