"Okay."

"My sister is off limits."

Like an idiot, I laugh. Full-on, bend over and laugh.

"Is that all? I think I can handle that."

Max smirks as he walks past me, claps me on the shoulder, and says, "I hope so."

I didn't realizehow hard it would be not to break that rule. Because I've already broken it. I broke it before I knew who she was. From the moment I first saw her, touched her, I was breaking his rule.

Breaking his rule feels wrong but also so right.

Because I think he knew I would. Looking back now, the look in his eye and the smile on his face should have been a clue.

"Come on, man. Just fess up. You left the party early. She left the party early. It's obvious you two were together."

Craig isn't going to give up. He's going to keep digging until I give him the smallest tidbit of dirt.

"I'm not stupid. I know better than to screw with Max's sister."

"You looked like you enjoyed being stupid earlier. Max finally knock some sense into you?"

No, but his sister did.

"Something like that. Look, she's hot, there's no denying that, but she's not worth the headache. No woman is. Plus, who wants to deal with an overprotective brother just to get laid? Not me, that's for sure."

The words taste dirty as I say them. I attempt to sound as convincing as I can without going too far. If I make it seem like I don't care at all, he'll get suspicious, and if I care too much, it might be obvious I'm lying.

This is a lose-lose situation.

I was planning on being honest with him. He was going to be my one person. Evie and I agreed we each needed to tell one person, so we had someone to talk to. Craig was going to be mine until he walked in the door with a clear agenda.

To find out what happened and report back to Max.

"You made the right call. Max is a little crazy when it comes to his sisters. I heard he punched his best friend."

"I'm the one who told you that."

"Oh, yeah. Anyway, I'm just gonna grab a few things and head out."

"It's like two in the morning. Where the hell are you going?"

Craig smirks at me and shrugs. "A friend wants me to stay the night."

"Good luck getting into that dorm."

Chuckling to himself, Craig reaches into the bag he dropped on his bed when he came home and pulls out a red wig, long black skirt, and a pink LSU sweatshirt. "Shouldn't be that hard if I look like a drunk college girl."

Genius. Fucking genius!

I'm a little pissed I didn't think of it.
