Brady

Her text hasme confused at first. I figured she was going to tell me she was on her way over to see me.

DOVE: Max is banned from sleeping with any Zetas.

You can't ban a man from sleeping with an entire house. The thought does make me laugh, though. Because telling Max he can't do something is like throwing down the gauntlet. It's only going to make him want to do it more. Just to spite the person who's telling him he can't.

He's only sleeping with one of them, so he's not going to care if he can't bed the rest of them. But he will act like it's the biggest damn scandal.

Why is she telling me this, though? It doesn't affect us.

DOVE: And Cleo is hell-bent on moving the Halloween party to our house. I think it's to spite Max. Were they sleeping together? Please be honest with me.

ME: No. She's not the one.

DOVE: Then why is she trying to destroy him?

ME: I have no idea. Has she told Max?

DOVE: Our meeting just ended.

ME: Julian's not home yet, so they might still be in their meeting. I'll feel him out when he gets here.

DOVE: Don't say anything. I'm not sure when Cleo is planning on dropping the bomb on Max.

I don't like the thought of Max being blindsided. That never turns out well. And I hate being in the middle of this kind of bullshit. It makes me want to text him a heads-up. He's my friend after all. I owe it to him to let him know he's about to be hit by a semi-truck.

Her next text has me forgetting all about my loyalty to Max.

DOVE: I'm heading to your place now. Meet me on the roof?

Ah, the roof. It's become our place. I've even managed to put together a makeshift bed for us. A few extra pillows and some blankets. Enough room for just the two of us. We're hidden away from the rest of the world.

ME: It's kind of cold tonight. Why don't you just come to the apartment.

DOVE: You know why.

I do, but that doesn't mean I don't prefer her in my bed, where it's warm and comfortable, over the roof. Especially with the weather changing. But Julian doesn't work tonight, which means there's no chance he won't see her sneaking in or out.

ME: Julian isn't here yet. He's not going to catch us. And even if he does, who cares?

DOVE: I care. So if you won't meet me on the roof, I'm not coming.

ME: You always come.

DOVE: Don't spin my words, Brady. You know what I meant.

ME: I do. And you will come. More than once. Just get your cute ass here so I can prove that I'm right.

DOVE: The roof. Fifteen minutes.

ME: I'll be waiting. Probably not naked, though, because it is really cold out there tonight.

DOVE: I'll warm you up. And bring an extra blanket.

If she only knew that thoughts of her were enough to set me on fire. To warm me from the inside out. That my heart burns for her even more than my cock does. The last few weeks we've been playing this game have proven it.

If I thought I wanted to be with Mya then, it's nothing compared to how much I want her now. Both in and out of the makeshift bed I've made for us.
