Brady slides up behind Mya, startling her. He pulls her in for a long, annoyingly passionate kiss, and I hear one of the guys groan next to me.

Good, I think to myself.

Scarlet’s gaze finds me from across the room. She stares, her face twisted with emotions, until Gia pulls her away.

“So that one’s yours I take it?” Oliver asks, nudging me with his shoulder.

“I hope so.”

“Uh, shouldn’t you know if she’s yours or not?” Beau cuts in.

“I’m hers; I’m just not sure if she’s mine yet. We’re having some communication issues right now.”

It’s the best way I can describe our situation without giving them all the details. Though, the fact I barely know these guys, and since they won’t be here in the morning to gossip about it, has me wanting to say more.

“Sounds to me like you need to figure that shit out before someone else comes along and tries to steal her out from under you. And that person very well could be me.”

Beau’s words have me clenching my fists at my sides.

Do not punch him. Do not punch him. It’s not worth it. He’s just trying to push me to do what I already know I need to do. Stake my claim on Scarlet.

Though, it feels like I’ve already done that. Kane knows we’re … together? Can I even say that? I want to. It feels right. I just need to get her to stop freaking out. To stop running. And hopefully the fact she’s here tonight is her way of saying she’s ready for what comes next.

I sure as hell am.
