“Is that why you didn’t accept their offer tonight? Because you want to discuss it with Nash and Ace?” His hands stop their descent, my zipper only halfway down my back.

In hindsight, Colt should have invited them to the meeting. Instead, he brought me. I don’t think he realized what was going to happen. I had a feeling it was something life-changing the minute he told me about it, though. And I was right.

This could be not only great for Fade Into Nothing, but secure Colt’s future in the industry. Doors will open for him. His dreams will come true. And even if Nash and Ace aren’t on board, he can accept the offer.

I just don’t think he will.

“We’re a team, with equal say in where the road leads. Do I think they’ll be on board? Yes. But I won’t make the decision for them. I know this is what I want, but their dreams are bigger. I’m going to have to show them this is just the beginning, a starting point, to get them to where they want to go.”

“Where you want to go.”

“Not really. Don’t get me wrong, I love playing with them. I love being on stage. But my passion is writing. It always has been. This is my dream.”

“And if they say no? If you can’t convince them to go?”

Glancing over my shoulder at Colt, I see the concern laced in his features. If they don’t agree, he doesn’t know what he’s going to do.
