“Who says?”

Lilac doesn’t respond to Ashlyn’s sarcastic tone and merely tells her, “all of society.”

“Uh oh.” Ashlyn elbows me. “She put on her social scientist hat.”

Lilac frowns. “Social studies is not a science.”

“If you can get a degree in it, it’s a science,” Juniper declares.

Aspen returns and sits on the stage in front of us. “Brooke is going to find some gowns for me to try on.”

“Here.” Ashlyn hands her a glass of champagne before raising her own. “To Aspen and Lyric getting married.”

“Finally,” Aspen murmurs as she clinks her glass with Ashlyn’s.

“Are you planning for all four of us to be your bridesmaids? And who’s your maid of honor?” Ashlyn asks.

“Don’t be silly. You know Ellery will be her maid of honor. And Mom will kill her if we’re not all bridesmaids.”

I’m surprised at Juniper’s declaration. I haven’t given a thought to being Aspen’s maid of honor. I survey my stomach. “When exactly are you planning to get married?” Parading down the aisle with a tummy as big as a beach ball in a church while being unwed is asking for trouble of the cosmic variety.

Ashlyn elbows me. “She hasn’t set a date yet, remember? Is pregnancy brain a thing? Do you become forgetful?”

“You’ll find out soon enough.” I nod toward her glass of champagne. “Although…”

She sniffs. “Yeah. No pregnancy this month for me.”

Juniper throws an arm around her. “Don’t worry, little sis. It’ll happen. You have time.”

“But I want to give Rowan everything he wants, and he wants a family.”

I roll my eyes. “You don’t have to give him everything he wants.”

Aspen shifts closer. “What do you mean?”

Oh crap. Have I given myself away? Is bloodhound Aspen on the case? I lean back. “Nothing. Except a woman shouldn’t change herself to be with a man.”

“I’m not—”

Aspen shoves her palm in Ashlyn’s face. “Quiet. We’re working on Ellery’s problems now.”

“I don’t have a problem.”

Her gaze lowers to my belly and she lifts an eyebrow.

I lay my hands over my bump. “Don’t you dare call my baby a problem,” I hiss at her.

“I’m not. I’m referring to your problem with the baby da— The child’s father,” she corrects before I can lash out at her.

“I don’t have a problem with Cole.” Except for wanting him to do wicked things to me constantly. I’m blaming the pregnancy hormones. They make me want to have sex all the time. It’s not my fault they’ve honed in on Cole.

Aspen’s finger circles my face. “Is everyone seeing what I’m seeing?”

Lilac nods. “Yes. She’s blushing and her pulse rate has increased.”

“Meaning …”

“Meaning she’s either having a hot flash or she’s turned on.”
