“Oh, I like her,” Nelle declares, gasping for breath between deep belly laughs.

I turn to the door at the sound of a knock. “I’ll get it.” Nelle rushes forward. Thankfully forgetting about her retribution. Kali giggles beside me, passing me the bottle, having retrieved it from the bathroom counter.

“Thanks, girl.” Tipping my head back, I finish off the bottle, setting it on my desk.

“You were right,” Kali murmurs. “I had nothing to worry about. I really like her.”

“She definitely has that effect on people,” I laugh, motioning towards the door, where Nelle trails her hand flirtatiously down Domenic’s button-down shirt.

I link my arm in Kali’s, joining Nelle at the door. “Down, girl, let the man breathe.” Nelle pouts at my words before reluctantly backing away.

“You ladies are looking great,” Domenic says distractedly, eyeing Nelle back just the same, as her gaze runs up his form appreciatively. He holds out his arm for her, and she rushes forward, wrapping her arm around his, sparing a moment to stick her tongue out at me over her shoulder. I huff out an amused laugh, following them out the door, my arm still linked with Kali.

“So, are you going to talk to Stacia tonight?” I ask, nudging her—the alcohol relaxing her enough that she doesn’t immediately blush at my mention of her crush.

“Maybe, if I get a few more glasses of that champagne,” she teases, nudging me back.

“Girl, you don’t need any bubbly to talk to her. I saw you two at the library, plus I’ve seen the looks she gives you when you aren’t looking.” She does blush at that, glancing away.

“I like her when it’s just the two of us, but I don’t think I could actually be with her if she’s still acting like Katrina’s sidekick. She’s so much better than that,” she admits sadly.

“I’m proud of you, girl. You know your worth, and you aren’t willing to compromise.”

Nelle cuts off any response. “Hey, enough of that sappy shit. We’re having a fun night, end of story.”

I blink in surprise, realizing exactly where we are. Domenic holds the large door to the dining hall open for us.

The space has been wholly transformed. My lips part in shock, taking in the room. All the tables have been taken out leaving a long bar along the far wall where the buffet of food typically sits. Lights pulse by a DJ booth, a large wooden dance floor set up in front of it. Smaller tables line the walls, with standing tables skirting the dance floor.

“Let’s get some drinks.” Nelle raises her voice over the music, taking off in the direction of the bar. Not waiting for anyone else’s response. Catching up to her, I lean against the bar, hip bumping her to get her attention.

Her focus is wholly on getting the bartender’s attention, which she, of course, is successful at. He waves at us, setting down another girl’s drinks, before making his way over.

We all place our drink orders, and he returns a few minutes later with our glasses. Plus four tequila shots Nelle ordered for us all.

“Cheers to new friends and old,” she announces, holding her glass up. We all throw back the shot in sync. Nelle and I have no reaction to the fiery liquid, sucking our lime wedges. Kali coughs so hard, I’m afraid she’s about to throw the liquid back up, but she swallows thickly and sucks on her wedge. Domenic, however, chugs his beer after like a true champ.

“My hero,” Nelle sighs wistfully. Domenic just chuckles in response, extending his arm for her again. We all gather our drinks and walk over to one of the tables by the dance floor.

I take a sip of my peach bellini, dancing in place to the mix. A few students make their way to the dance floor, but it’s still mostly empty.

“I see you found my gift,” a masculine voice murmurs in my ear. My grin spreads, at the slide of his hands across my stomach. Wrapping around me from behind, he pulls me against his broad chest.

“Actually, I did,” Nelle interjects, my mouth popping open at her interruption. “I have to admit, you have good taste there, lover boy,” she admits grudgingly, turning to assess him.

“It has been brought to my attention that I may have been a bit bitchy earlier, so let me get your drink.” My eyes widen in shock at her words, yes, she said she would apologize, but I hadn’t expected much more than a grumbled ‘sorry.’

“Whiskey, on the rocks, please.” Adrian stiffens in shock at Nelle’s change in attitude. She nods at that, skipping off with Domenic in tow.

“Is she alright?” His body relaxes back against me, placing a kiss at the crook of my neck.

“I guess she’s just in a good mood,” I say pointedly, tipping my head to Nelle, her arms draped over Domenic while waiting at the bar.

“So am I,” he murmurs, rubbing his hips against me so his growing arousal presses into me. A low moan slips past my lips. It’s too early to leave right, because all I want to do right now is—

My thoughts are cut off by the sound of Kali clearing her throat from beside me. I shoot her an apologetic look, wincing at the slip. Adrian just chuckles softly, clearly amused by the effect he has on me.

Luckily, Zina and Lucas find us, saving me from my embarrassment. They greet us, before respectfully inclining their heads to Adrian. A move he finds all too amusing. Nelle’s slender arms reach in front of us, catching me off guard.
