“Great work, we should practice more on keeping the power focused outwards. I understand how it can be tough to split your focus like that.” She appraises me as she scans me over. Her lips quirk up in a small impressed smile, as though she hadn’t thought I would be able to handle a single spark, let alone the continuous arc I had.

“We really should get back to our lesson,” Orrin interrupts, pressing again to take over the training.

“Like hell you are. If she needs to use wisdom, her father can show her. I don’t want you, nor your grimly little hands near my mate.” Mateo gets in the way, blocking his path over to me, as he regards the god of wisdom. Clearly the guys hadn’t missed that keen intrigue in Orrin’s eyes. I can’t help but feel giddy by his possessive reaction. Nyssa only sighs, impatiently tapping her foot as though the constant bickering is a normal occurrence when they’re all around.

“It’s good for Liv to learn the basics, but we really have got to focus on her studies this week as there’ll be an academic portion of the third and final trial.” Kyros steps forward to put their squabbling to rest. Despite his words I don’t miss the disdain in his gaze as he focuses on Orrin. Kyros’ interruption doesn’t seem to work though, leaving the two majors to pick up their arguing once more.

Great, this is shaping up to be such a fun day.

I flop onto the couch, letting loose a dramatic sigh as I let my head fall against the back. My eyelids flutter closed, and I relax back into the plush velvet.

“Thank goodness that’s over, I don’t think I could have stood another second of all your arguing and posturing,” I groan, scrubbing a hand over my face. A bone-deep weariness sinks in as I think back to the hours of arguing without getting much of anything done after those initial lessons.

Kyros chuckles as he sits beside me and slides one arm around my back and another under my knees, pulling me onto his lap. I peel an eyelid open, quirking a brow in question as I gaze back at Kyros, his face mere inches from mine now. His grin grows wider as he looks back at me, not bothering to give me an explanation.

I shrug and close my eyes again, snuggling into his embrace and nuzzling the side of my face against his shoulder. I inhale deeply, groaning in pleasure as his sandalwood scent hits me. His chest rumbles against me, and a chuckle bursts from him. His arms wrap tighter around me.

I hear the footsteps of Adrian, Maximus, and Mateo, but I keep my eyes closed since I’m finally comfortably nestled against Kyros’ chest.

“Oh, don’t lie, I can tell you love when we get possessive and jealous over you,” Adrian says as his footsteps pass by me. I can almost hear the mischievous smirk in his tone without even having to open my eyes. A moment later, the couch shifts as he sits down with us, pulling my legs into his lap.

I turn my head into Kyros’ shoulder, hiding my answering grin from them. I mean, he’s not wrong, but I’m not sure I really want them knowing that. Kyros must notice though because his chest vibrates with laughter. I give him a tap on his arm, admonishing him for selling me out, but this only makes his laughter grow along with Adrian’s.

My thoughts cut off as Adrian pulls my tight calves between his large masculine hands, massaging the tense muscles. Okay, they can laugh as much as they like if this is the reward I get.

I pull my face from Kyros’ shoulder and turn to watch Adrian. Kyros mumbles a sound of protest, but I ignore him, relaxing further into Adrian’s touch. They really do need to learn how to share, besides I’m still perched in his lap. He seems to realize this at the exact moment I do and his hands move to rub my biceps.

I lean back against the arm of the couch, letting my head loll back as I relax into their touch. I glance up as a thought hits me, finding Adrian’s eyes already on mine, as though his thoughts had gone to the same place mine had. His lascivious gaze roves over my body, drinking in every inch.

I turn my head to meet Kyros’ gaze, his honey-brown eyes warm as thoughts of my last massage flit through my mind.

“Are you guys ever going to explain how you were able to set everything up in Kyros’ office that night?” I ask hesitantly, unable to push off thoughts of Adrian watching us from somewhere in the room, making himself invisible while he watched Kyros’ hands wring every ounce of pleasure from my body.

My mind wanders to what could have happened if Adrian had been watching and couldn’t handle just being a spectator anymore. Both of their hands on me, just as they are now, the two of them sharing me in every sense of the word. My gaze moves between the two of them, seeing the look they exchange, and my mouth dries at Adrian’s devious grin

“Unfortunately, I was able to set the illusions up to appear at a simple gesture from Kyros. I wish I had been there, though, but there’s always next time … ” His words trail off, and I swallow thickly at the implication. Now that is something I would definitely love to repeat.

“You two know she’s all of our mate, right? Not just yours.” Mateo’s voice jolts me from my thoughts, and my head snaps in his direction, not noticing his approaching footsteps. My brows furrow at his words as my gaze runs over him. He glares at Adrian and Kyros, arms crossed over his chest as he towers over us.

Although he is still here, he doesn’t make any move to come closer or scoop me up from Kyros’ lap. I chew the corner of my lips as I watch his biceps bulge and tension radiate along his muscles, as though he’s holding himself back. I guess I should just be grateful that he didn’t stalk off somewhere else after returning from training. That’s definitely a step in the right direction.

My attention is pulled to Maximus as a grumble reverberates from his chest, his footsteps stomping across the hardwood floor before he flops onto the opposite couch. He scowls and his brow lowers into a glower.

I pull my legs from Adrian’s lap, his grip had loosened, and stand from my seat on Kyros’ lap. They make sounds of protest, and they grab for me again, but I dodge their hands and ignore their complaints, knowing Maximus needs to be reassured right now. For all of his gruffness, he really is my big softy on the inside.

“What are you doing?” Maximus grumbles as I stride over to him, but I don’t bother answering. Instead, I slide onto his lap and curl against his chest. Despite his answering unintelligible grumble, I feel his chest relax against me, losing all of the previous tension as a deep exhale leaves him. He wraps his arms around me, squeezing me hard against him, but I don’t mind the pressure, hard and all-consuming, just like my surly mate.

“I guess I’ll just be grumpy for more attention.” Adrian chuckles. I glance over at him, but I catch his teasing smile as he winks at me. Maximus’ grip tightens around me, as though he’s scared I might just hop back over to the other couch at Adrian’s words.

“I’m not going anywhere,” I assure him, pulling back to meet his emerald green eyes. There’s a softness to them, replacing their usual steely glint. I place a small chaste kiss on the tip of his nose, causing a chorus of laughter to bubble up from his brothers.

Heat floods my cheeks as I remember we aren’t alone. A growl rumbles from his chest, but it’s not directed at me. Instead, he pins the others with a menacing glare before tucking my head against his chest. I smile against his broad chest, inhaling his scent of dry cedar and cloves deeply.

My eyes blink open as the other side of the couch dips, Mateo’s hulking form is perched beside us. He uncrosses his arms from his chest as he goes to reach for me. My breath catches in my throat, waiting for him to make that move to close the growing distance between us, but my chest tightens as he clenches his hands into fists. He pulls them back, a pained expression crossing his face for a moment before he schools his features.

Mateo stands abruptly, and the room quiets around us, the others obviously catching the strange exchange. He goes to stalk off and my shoulders slump, feeling as though this moment has lost what little progress I thought had been gained today.
