“Unfortunately, but you know I would much rather stay up chatting with you all night?”
“Oh, I know, I’m a very popular girl. But, truth is I have someone else I’m going to stay up all night with. You’ve been replaced.” She shrugs her shoulders nonchalantly, attempting to hide her teasing smile.
“Ha—ha, very funny, I know you could never replace me,” I say gleefully, flipping my hair over my shoulder.
“I’ve tried and failed multiple times,” she admits wistfully, letting her head fall in defeat.
“You are too much sometimes. Okay, get your ass to sleep. I love you, girl, and I’ll see you soon.” I blow her a kiss, pouting despite my words, and not wanting to go so soon.
“Bye babe, love you the most.” She gives me a sad smile before she disconnects, my screen shifting back to the home screen.
With that, I pull the covers up around me and put my phone to charge, hoping that I drift off into a dreamless sleep. My heart is light after speaking to Nelle, and I’m ready to take on whatever I may face next.
