I swallow the laugh that bubbles up, and cock a brow in challenge before pushing off the bookcase. Stalking closer to her, my eyes rove up her body. She shivers at the weight of my attention, and I stifle my growl of approval. I stop a foot away from her, my eyes locking with hers, searching for the flames of desire I know she can’t hide.

“Oh, I love libraries, sunshine,” I say, my eyes focusing on her luscious lips as she pulls her bottom one with her teeth. I nearly forget my reasoning for following her as I imagine my own teeth biting it, her back arching in pleasure in my arms. “Especially when they’re as abandoned as this one is.”

“Denver,” she warns, but despite her hesitation I spot a flicker of intrigue in the eyes that suck me in like a moth to a flame. “Why are you here?”

Right. My shoulders slump a fraction as I remember what I need to tell her, knowing she definitely won’t be as receptive to my advances afterwards.

A crease forms between her brows as she searches my face, clearly noticing the sudden shift in my demeanor. I wish I could reach out to smooth it out for her, to ease her worries and be more than an enemy hookup to her. But that can’t happen yet and I don’t want to give her any false promises. I’ll be the bad guy, the one she hates if it keeps her safe.

“Just thought you might want a little warning about keeping a low profile,” I say coyly, one corner of my lips tugging up in a smirk.

“You can save your—”

“No, you need to hear this, sunshine. I’m not one of those people who walks around kissing your ass,” I snap, anger flaring in me at the people she keeps closest to her. They should be watching out for her better. “People are going to notice you and Pierce trading googly eyes at one another.”

“Are you jealous, Prince?” Aria balks in dismissal, her tone scathing as if she couldn’t imagine the possibility.

My jaw tenses at that question but I hold my tongue. Despite knowing that she’ll be with more than one man, I am jealous at the open way she looks at them. There’s no disdain in those gorgeous orbs for them, no animosity or hatred with how she speaks to them. My heart pangs with the thought that she might never look at me the same way.

“Denver?” she asks, her voice softer than I’ve ever heard it before.

“Of course not,” I scoff, shaking my head in disgust. “I have no reason to be jealous. You might look at them, but have either of them got to feel your tight pussy coming on their cocks?”

Her mouth pops open at the sudden change in the conversation, and lust fogs over her gaze. She scans down my body as though the same memories are flashing through her mind.

“Go fuck yourself, Prince,” she growls, her eyes snapping up to mine. She doesn’t back away though, her chin raised in a look of defiance. I’m really not sure if she’s about to kiss me or punch me, and I kind of like it.

“Oh but I think it would be so much more satisfying for both of us if I fuck you,” I drawl, smirking at her as I close the distance between us. “You wish,” she grinds out, her back arching slightly so her breasts brush against my chest with each ragged breath she takes.

“Oh no, we both wish, sunshine,” I whisper, leaning down to get closer to her ear. “I’m just the only one willing to admit it.”

A shudder runs over her body, and my cock hardens in response to the desire vibrating through her.

“This isn’t a closet, Denver. Anyone could walk by and see us,” she whispers with a note of excitement in her tone that contradicts her words.

“Do you trust me?” I ask, my teeth lightly nipping the shell of her ear. A soft yelp slips from her lips at the sudden pressure.

“Not a chance in hell,” she breathes, but despite her words she leans into me, pressing up on her toes as our lips are being pulled together by a magnetic force.

“Good,” I whisper. My mouth slams down on hers in the next second, my tongue wasting no time as I delve between her lips and caress hers in long, languid stokes, showing her exactly what I can do in other places.

She moans into my mouth, her body molding against mine as I cup her face, and thread my fingers through her silken hair. I devour her completely, branding myself on her tongue to make sure she never forgets how it feels when we come together.

“Against the bookshelf,” I purr across her lips, already pressing her back against the wall. Thankfully the bookshelves are built into the wall on this side or else we might just bring down the whole place in our haste.

“What are you—”

I cut her off with another scorching kiss, stealing the words from her lips, but she doesn’t seem to complain. I ease away from her slowly, my half-lidded gaze roving over her body pressed against the shelves, her chest heaving from the fevered kisses.

“Grip the shelves, Hart,” I instruct, and to my surprise she doesn’t even argue, her hands curling tightly around the thick wooden shelf at her waist.

I bend down and slowly lower onto my knees before her.

“Denver,” she hisses, snapping her head up to look up and down the row of books, but no one else is here.

“Shh,” I insist, my fingers already skimming under the hem of her skirt and trailing up her soft thighs. “Unless you don’t want me to.”

“Just—don’t get us caught,” she breathes, her head rolling back against the shelves as she relaxes.
