I smirked when Terrance and Alpha Ramirez paled. "Hello, my prince," I said without looking away from the two men. "It seems you have company."

"Do I?" Alessandro's hand rested on my shoulder as the man stopped beside me. "I don't remember an appointment to see anyone."

"I was just asking Alpha Ramirez if he had an appointment." I smirked when the man paled even more. He was white as a sheet. "He hasn't answered me yet."

"Paolo, does Alpha Ramirez have an appointment?" Alessandro asked.

"No, sir," Paolo answered swiftly. "You have no appointments on the books today or tomorrow."

"I see," Alessandro said slowly, and that was telling in itself.

I didn't even need to look to know Alessandro was angry. I could feel it in the subtle vibration of his body. He was moments away from shifting. Considering I had never seen him in his true form, I was kind of excited.

"What is the meaning of this, Alpha Ramirez?"

The man in question stiffened up and straightened the tie on his expensive Armani suit. "You left our meeting rather abruptly yesterday, Prince Vitali. As I am headed back to my clan soon, I felt now would be a good time to continue."

"I'm afraid that isn't possible at this time," Alessandro said. "I have more pressing matters to see to at the moment. If you make an appointment with my assistant, I'm sure I can fit you in before you head home."

"Now, see here—"

I had no idea what expression was on Alessandro's face because I was looking at the two men in front of me, but the alpha snapped his lips together and his eyes grew round.

"Are you under the impression that I answer to you, Alpha Ramirez?" Alessandro asked. His voice was hard and cold.

"Yes, of course you do," the alpha started.

Idiot.

"You are the prince of gryphons in Italy," he continued. He should have stopped before then. "It is your duty care for our people. You have a responsibility to us. As such, you answer to us."

I snorted, and I was glad I did, even when the alpha shot me a glare that should have put me six feet under. This guy really was an idiot. I knew alphas tended to inherit their position, but this guy couldn't lead a garbage detail.

"Interesting interpretation on what I do," Alessandro said. "And while I do have a responsibility to care for our people, I do not answer to you. You answer to me."

"No, that's—"

"Silence!"

Even I jumped at Alessandro's loud voice.

"You do not dictate to me, Alpha Ramirez. I am prince of the gryphons. You are merely an alpha. You answer to me, just as your people answer to me. Every gryphon in Italy answers"—Alessandro tapped his chest—"to me."

"Now, see here..." Alpha Ramirez started ranting.

I tuned him out when Alessandro glanced at me with a deep frown on his face. "Did I stutter?" he asked. "Speak in a foreign language? Speak gibberish?"

I shook my head.

"So, you understood my words?"

"Yes," I replied. "I understood you perfectly."

Alessandro glanced at Paolo. "Did you understand me?"

"Of course, sir."

Alessandro turned his eyes to Alpha Ramirez. "How is it that you are the only person that does not understand me?"
