He laughed and nodded as he tapped his phone screen.
“I’m thirsty,” Berkely said.
“Okay let’s go.” Autumn started to the door.
“I can help.” He offered quickly.
“We can manage.” She hoped. She couldn’t have him following her to a dorm where she didn’t live.
“Are you sure?” He started to follow.
“Yes, I got it,” Autumn insisted.
Berkely giggled again. Hopefully she wasn’t paying attention to anything they were saying. At any minute she could tell him that Autumn was only seventeen.
“I’ll see you around, Hazel.”
“Who’s Hazel?” Berkley quipped.
It wasn’t until they were on the sidewalk when Autumn’s phone buzzed. Berkley was focused on walking straight like Autumn had asked her. She dug her phone out of her pocket and looked at it.
