Power Play 4

Cashel

That went better than I thought. I knew where she would be; she’s always at the bookstore. I hired a freshman to attempt to rob her.

Shit, I need to go bail the guy out. Money well spent.

I knew she wouldn’t talk to me, so I had to go big or go home. And her offering to help me means I don’t have to find someone else.

I’m surprised she did offer after what I did to her our freshman year. She was at the mall, looking for a dress for a party her dad was throwing. I approached her, smiled my winning smile, and took her to a pig party.

I know it was childish and she should hate me. For some reason she doesn’t. I don’t think she ever will.

I head home after she drops me off at my car and I flop down on my bed. My dad lives here during the hockey season, so I’m his roommate. It beats paying for rent or room and board at the university.

My family is big on family. Every chance we get, Dad and I go home. My brothers try to visit as often as they can. My mom is lonely, though she won’t admit it. All she talks about is her garden parties, or some charity function. Whatever keeps her happy.

I roll off the bed with a sigh, getting my things ready for tomorrow. I guess after tonight, no more partying for a while. Hockey is my life and for me to make it to the pros, which is my dream, I need to try and keep my nose clean.

Once my bags are packed, ready for the grueling practice my dad has planned, I collapse in bed.

I’m asleep before my head hits the pillow, guess I needed it since I’m never in bed at this hour.
