“I could do that?” His eyes widen in surprise.

“Yes. It says you can pick any topic, you just have to make your notations correctly and sight your sources.”

“Cool.”

“When you’re done eating, how about you start your research and write as you go. I’ll be here just to help out when you have questions.”

“All right.”

We eat in silence and soon enough he’s actually opening his laptop, pulling up websites. He’s a good student when he wants to be. I think he would just rather be free to do whatever instead of school.

No one wants to sit around and study for six hours a day, but we still do it. We’re not talented like Cashel.

I watch as he chews on the end of his pen. His fingers move across the keyboard and I wonder what magic those fingers hold.

Nope, can’t think that. He will never like you like that; we’ve already been through that. The pig party told me all I need to know about what he thinks of me.

This is just to help him out, then he can be on his way.

I can’t let my feelings cloud my judgment. I’m never letting him in again.
