Power Play 8

Hunter

If anyone would know about loving someone from afar, it would be Oakley. She’s loved Cashel forever.

What she doesn’t know is that the rest of our group has loved her for about the same amount of time. We made a pact, none of us, or all of us. But Cashel is fucking it all up.

He has a black eye—again. Courtesy of Caleb.

He was telling us what he did to get in Oakley’s good graces. I can’t fucking believe he hired someone to literally attack her.

His excuse was that he needed an in, and she wasn’t hurt.

But she could have been. Why can’t he see that? Fucking dick.

But it was almost like it was a game to get in her pants. He also admitted he didn’t really defend Oakley in front of Abbie.

I’m no better. I could have stuck up for her whenever he talked shit about her. I’m a dick for not doing that.

“Come to the game tomorrow.” I kiss her one more time. I want to savor this moment.

“You want me to come to the game?” She points to herself like she can’t believe I asked her.

“Please. And I’ll take you to dinner tonight.” What she doesn’t know is that the guys will be joining us.

“What is happening?”

“Nothing bad,” I assure her. Cashel fucked her up so bad that she questions everything.

“What should I wear?”

“Jeans are fine,” I tell her. She rushes off to her room as I pull out my phone. I order a to-go order from her favorite sushi place and then text the guys.

The plan is to take her to the beach for a picnic. Oakley isn’t the type of girl who needs expensive things. She loves small gestures.

She comes out in ripped jeans, a black crop top, and her black converse. When she sees me looking, she tries to cover up her stomach. She thinks she’s fat. She’s not even close. She’s curvy and I like that.

“Shall we?” I hold out my hand. When she takes it, I feel sparks shoot up my spine. I love this feeling.

I help her into my car, even though she doesn’t need help. I do it because I love seeing her smile.

I stop and pick up the food and drive to the beach. I get out and open her door.

“What are we doing here?” she asks as I grab a blanket out of my trunk.

I should explain: it’s not really a beach. It’s a lake with some sandy areas and it’s not quite cold yet, but that’s what my jacket is for.

“We’re going to have a picnic,” I inform her.

“A picnic? I’ve never been…”

She’s never been on a picnic, unless with her family. She’s never been on a real date. That will change.

I will take her on lots of dates. Lots of kisses. I’m taking what Cashel missed out on.

Fuck him.

She helps me lay out all the food, and we pick off each other’s plates.
